摘要： The present invention provides new methods for producing substantially continuous, homogeneous layers of MALDI matrix materials deposited on MALDI targets and substantially free of voids and large crystals. The methods involve the deposition of MALDI matrix materials in a nebulized spray which is enveloped in a sheath of non-reactive gas which confines and entrains the spray and aids in the evaporation of the solvent such that substantial, if not complete, solvent evaporation occurs before the matrix material is deposited on the target surface. The invention further provides such matrix layers and pre-formed matrix-bearing targets for use in MALDI mass spectrometry.

摘要： A variable form spray system includes a robot manipulator, a masking tool assembly integrated with the manipulator, sealer supply hardware which supplies spray material to the manipulator and sealer recovery hardware which recovers material sprayed and skived by the masking tool assembly. Spray pattern form is controlled by collecting overspray using adjustable skive manifolds of the assembly on each side of the spray pattern which function to vacuum off the edges of the airless spray pattern. The positions of the skive manifolds are programmable.

摘要： An apparatus and method for the spray application of solvent-thinned coating compositions whereby optimum coverage of a substrate with a liquid film is consistently achieved without incurring sagging, run-off or surface irregularities, such as orange peeling, in spite of wide fluctuations in the temperature and/or humidity of the surrounding atmospheric environment. In accordance with the invention, a shroud is provided which is disposed in encompassing relationship around the spray nozzle to which air is supplied at a controlled temperature and/or humidity which envelopes and becomes entrained in the spray forming a controlled localized atmosphere and achieving a controlled vaporization of solvent from the liquid droplets during the course of their travel from the nozzle to the surface of the substrate being coated.

摘要： Apparatus for selectively masking surfaces of various length stator cores or the like, and applying coating material to other selected surfaces with a fluidic controlled coating nozzle. A circumferential series of ribs on a core support structure sandwich ported pads which pass coolant fluid to the selected core surfaces to prevent coating material buildup on the core. The ported pads are provided with laterally extending grooves at spaced longitudinal locations along their outer surface to restrict conductive heat transfer longitudinally therealong. Insulation between the ribs and pads restrict the conductive transfer of heat from the pads to the ribs. Fluid control signals to the coating nozzle selectively direct coating material through the nozzle to the other core surfaces or return the constantly flowing coating material to the pulverant coating material storage and supply area.

摘要： A paint gun cleaner includes a spray unit mounted in an enclosure in spaced relation to an opening in the enclosure through which the paint gun to be cleaned is inserted. A ring shaped spray unit combines a solvent dispenser, which may be either a solvent knife generating a curtain of solvent in the central opening of the spray unit or a plurality of nozzles directing solvent onto the paint gun, with an air knife positioned between the solvent dispenser and the enclosure opening. The air knife directs air flow radially and axially inward to prevent escape of solvent, and to recirculate air mixed with solvent around the sides of the spray unit and through the space between the spray unit and enclosure opening to reduce the amount of ambient air which is drawn into and which must be separated from the solvent and dissolved paint before discharge. An interconnection between the air knife and solvent dispenser interjects solvent into the air knife during cleaning to keep the air knife from being clogged with paint, and provides for discharge of air through both the air knife and solvent dispenser when the solvent supply is interrupted for drying the paint gun after cleaning.
