摘要: Simultaneous, multi-user uplink communication is scheduled in a wireless network by transmitting a poll message to a plurality of access terminals in response to receiving a first request to transmit data via uplink. The poll message includes a solicitation for requests to transmit data from each of the plurality of access terminals. The poll message also includes a medium reservation and schedule for transmission of the requests from the access terminals. Based on the requests received from the access terminals, a number of the access terminals are selected for simultaneous transmission of data via uplink. A transmit start message is sent to each of the selected access terminals indicating when and for how long the selected access terminals may transmit data via uplink. After the data is received, a block ACK message is sent to each of the selected access terminals indicating successful simultaneous communication.

摘要: A system and method for wireless devices to efficiently receive communications by transmitting and receiving specialized beacon messages. Particularly, a wireless device may await reception of a synchronizing beacon message from a transmitting device. A relative position identifier within the synchronizing beacon message may then allow the wireless device to anticipate future beacon message transmissions and to synchronize its reception pattern with the transmitter. In this manner the wireless device need only receive and decode beacon messages germane to its operation.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for network setup in wide channel WLANs are provided. Techniques for co-existence of 20 MHz and 40 MHz networks (e.g., as defined by IEEE 802.11n) may be extended to 80 MHz and 160 MHz networks. For example, a primary channel of an existing network may be designated as the primary channel of a new network. Further, a primary channel of the existing network may not be used as a secondary channel in the new network. Intolerance operation between networks may include a first network releasing one or more channels in response to an intolerance indication received from a second network. Furthermore, in response to the intolerance indication from the second network, the first network may utilize one or more channels for communicating in the first network using a first set of access parameters. The access parameters may depend on the intolerance indication.

摘要: One aspect of the disclosure provides a method for wireless communication by a station or wireless device. The method includes waking from a sleep state. Further, the method includes determining an availability of a transmission medium. In addition, in response to determining that the transmission medium is not available, the method can include determining a sleep time period, entering a second sleep state based on the sleep time period, and freezing a backoff counter for the duration of the second sleep state.

摘要: A communications device synchronizes itself with respect to an external reference signal, e.g., a GPS signal. The communications device detects timing reference signals, e.g., beacon signals, from a communications network. If the communications device determines that the network is not synchronized to the external timing reference signal, the communications device operates as a master timing control device. In various embodiments, when operating as a master timing control device the wireless communications device communicates time stamps, e.g., in beacon signals, which indicate a greater passage of time than the actual passage of time. When operating as a master timing control device the communications device transmits network timing reference signals at a higher rate than is being used by the network to seize control of network timing and become the master timing control device. The communications device drives the network timing to synchronize network timing to the external timing reference.
