A plurality of cyclones are connected in parallel, and the intake openings (4, 5, 6) of the cyclones are closed or opened by a common slider (17; 24), which also has an opening (15, 16, 17; 24, 25) in the vicinity of each cyclone intake opening for passage of the fluid stream. The position and size of each slider opening is designed such that in various slider settings, the fluid stream will reach a different number of cyclone intake openings.

    摘要: A downhole fluid separation system comprises a fluid separator having a fluid inlet, a first fluid outlet, and a second fluid outlet, with a sensing device for sensing at least one parameter of a first component of a fluid mixture introduced into the fluid inlet of the fluid separator. The ratio of the first component to a second component of the fluid mixture is adjusted as such fluid mixture is introduced into the fluid inlet of the fluid separator in response to a signal provided by the sensing means. By adjusting the component ratio before the fluid is introduced into the fluid separator in response to a signal from a downhole sensing device, acceptable separation efficiency can be achieved over a broad range of fluid component ratios for a given fluid separator.

    摘要: A centrifugal separator has a plurality of substantially planar walls, including a first wall, defining a vortex chamber having an interior gas volume and for establishing at least one gas vortex in the gas volume, and the gas volume has a cross section that is distinctly non-circular, (and preferably quadrate). In addition to conventional outlets the separator includes a gas inlet having at least one elongated jet-defining wall with a free end portion extending into the gas volume a first distance from the first wall, to define a gas jet that extends substantially tangentially to the gas vortex in the gas volume. An insert extends between the jet-defining wall free end portion and the first wall and defines a gas flow direction changing surface. The insert may be substantially solid refractory material, or include a number of cooling fluids circulating tubes, and a gas flow direction changing surface may be substantially planar or curved. The first distance is typically at least 50 mm, but less than 25% of the dimension of the wall perpendicular to the first wall. The jet defining wall and the gas direction changing surface may make an angle .alpha. between 20.degree.-80.degree. and the first distance may be between 0.2-5 times the width of the gas inlet. The height of the gas inlet is at least twice as great as its width.

Multiple hydrocyclones or cyclonettes are mounted in axially extending vertical rows and in corresponding radial positions in the cylinders from the outer surface the outer cylinder, and the housing and concentric cylinders are formed in sections which are coupled together in end to end relation. Individual cyclonettes can be removed and replaced after removal of one or more of the housing sections. In order to increase the pressure of the feed stock to be cleaned which is supplied to the cyclonettes in the upper portion or sections of the assembly, vertically extending flow channels are provided in the lower portion of the inlet chamber by omitting cyclonettes from the rows in the lower sections of the assembly.
