Abstract:
A hollow bicycle rim a plurality of tubular reinforcement members coupled to the inner and outer openings. Each of the reinforcement members has an internal abutment surface within an internal passageway designed to engage an enlarged head of a spoke to couple spokes to the rim. The inner and outer ends of the reinforcement members are secured to the inner and outer openings to prevent inner and outward movement of the reinforcement members, respectively. Each reinforcement member preferably has a pre-formed retaining surface and one or more deformed retaining surface to prevent inner and outer movement. Optionally, each reinforcement member can include a threaded connection instead of one or more the deformed retaining surfaces. Seal members are optionally mounted in the reinforcement members so that a tubeless tire can be used.
Abstract:
An improved tensioned spoke bicycle wheel. The wheel comprises a hub, a rim, spokes and spoke nipples. A spoke that is connected to the left side of the hub is paired, at the rim, with a spoke that is connected to the right side of the hub. For each pair of spokes, there is provided a spoke plate that is positioned between the rim floor and the nipples. Each of the spokes in a pair extends through adjacent spoke bores in the rim, through spoke bores in the spoke plate and into the spoke nipples. The spoke plates distribute the forces associated with the tensioned spokes over a substantial portion of the rim floor. The spoke plate may have a flat surface where it supports the nipples or a socket shaped surface. In the latter case, the nipples have a ball shaped lower end that seat in the socket.
Abstract:
A wheel, a rim, a rim eyelet and a spoke nipple, particularly for a bicycle, wherein the rim eyelet has a throughbore to receive a spoke nipple. The spoke nipple includes a nipple body and a nipple thread to work in concert with a spoke. At least one contact layer made from a material which effects a reduction in friction at the area of contact is provided between the spoke and the rim eyelet of the wheel's rim.
Abstract:
A tubeless rim includes elongate apertures defined through an inner part thereof and each spoke has an elongate head which is inserted through the aperture and rotated 90 degrees so as to fix the head in a groove in a back of the inner part of the rim.
Abstract:
Improved vehicle wheel construction with a peripheral rim, a central wheel hub and a plurality of spokes extending between the rim and hub, wherein the spokes have a first peripheral portion connected to the rim and a second central portion opposed to the first portion. The hub includes at least two opposed outer flanges, with the central portions of the spokes secured to at least one of the outer flanges by hardened molding material.
Abstract:
A spoked wheel (1), particularly for motor cycles and motor vehicles, comprises a rim (2) made integral with a hub (3) by means of a plurality of spokes (4) tensioned by means of threaded connections or nipples (20) housed in respective seats or cups (13) comprising a through hole (41; 41null, 42null) formed in the channel (9) of the rim (2); interposed between the nipples (20) and the cups (13) are sealing means (14) able to prevent air from passing through the gap formed between the outer surface of the nipples and the side walls of the holes in the cups.
Abstract:
A wheel with high strength flexible spokes of the present invention, including a rim and hub, and spokes between the rim and hub made of fibrous material that causes the spokes to be both lighter in weight and stronger than comparable steel spokes. The spokes are also flexible and resilient such that they can bend while retaining their integrity and strength. The wheel includes a nipple within the rim that receives the high strength spoke and allows for flexibility in adapting the spoke to wheels having differing shapes and sizes.
Abstract:
In a spoke wheel that includes: a rim; a hub; and a plurality of spokes connecting the rim with the hub, the spokes each having an end portion connected with a connection portion disposed at a lateral surface portion on an outside in a width direction of the rim, the rim includes a raised portion that is raised from the connection portion to the outside in the width direction.
