Abstract:
A drawer mounted on a drawer housing which is attached to the base plate of a cabinet, the drawer being sized to contain a bathroom scale, and being movable inwardly and outwardly by attachment to telescopic drawer glides. A hinged door is mounted to the drawer housing to cover the drawer when in a closed position. An alternative provides and electro-mechanical connection to the drawer, to enable opening and closing of the drawer by activation of an electrical motor.
Abstract:
The present invention is a compact door coordinator which includes a relatively narrow housing having mounted therein and extending therefrom a lead control lever and a longer trailing control lever. Both control levers are spring biased to extend from the housing when the doors are open. A relatively simple linkage extends from the lead control lever to the trailing control lever for retaining the ladder in its extended position until the lead door contacts the lead control lever. At that point, the lead control lever is pushed into the housing and rotated against the force of a torsion spring, causing the linkage to move and thereby rotating a cam which then releases the trailing control lever allowing the trailing door to push the trailing control lever into the housing to complete the closing process. When the doors are reopened, the force of the torsion springs causes the lead and trailing levers to once again extend from the housing while resetting the cam to retain the trailing lever in its extended position until it is released.
Abstract:
A power operator for opening and closing a trunk lid of a motor vehicle has a spring engaged between the vehicle and the lid for urging the lid from a closed position into an open position, a rod having an outer end connected to the door and an inner end, and a clutch rotatable about a clutch axis and having an output member connected to the rod inner end and an input member. A drive motor connected to the input member is energizable for rotating the clutch elements and thereby displacing the rod and door. Another spring in the clutch rotationally decouples the clutch elements from each other only when a torque applied to the input element exceeds a predetermined limit. A controller energizes the motor for a predetermined amount of time.
Abstract:
A power drive moves a movable closure between an open position and a closed position with respect to a portal defining a passage through a barrier. The power drive can include an elongated drive member connected to the movable closure and a ball nut drive assembly for selectively moving the drive member longitudinally to position the movable closure between the open position and the closed position with respect to the passage through the barrier. The barrier can define at least a portion of a stationary structure or a vehicle, where the passage allows access within the structure or the vehicle. The movable closure can include a sliding door, hatch, window, roof panel or the like. The elongated drive member can be a compound drive member having at least one gear or tooth-like member extending helically around in uniformly spaced turns about a core of the drive member to form a rigid or resilient screw-like portion capable of being driven by operable engagement with the recirculating ball nut drive assembly. A flexible portion, such as a push/pull cable can be attached to one end of the screw-like member to allow the power drive to move a movable closure along a curved or other non-linear path.
Abstract:
A device for moving a swinging and sliding door in a mass-transit car, especially a car that travels along a track. Each panel of the door slides lengthwise along a guide element. The guide element moves as part of a four-point articulation across the plane of the panel. The lengthwise motion of the leaf is coordinated with its transverse motion by a rail. The rail is fastened to the doorframe. Guide means are fastened to the panel and engage the rail. A drive mechanism on the panel directs force toward the guide element. As the drive mechanism (20-22, 30 & 31, or 40 & 4n1) reacts it exerts torque on an expansion element (25, 35, or 45) between the guide element (3) and a supporting component (25.2, 35.2, or 45.2) attached to the doorframe (16). The torque produces a force substantially normal to the guide element. The force generates the transverse motion.
Abstract:
An operator for moving a door between an open position and a closed position. The operator includes linkage for being attached to the door; a motor assembly having a drive shaft; and a drive train for coupling the drive shaft of the motor assembly to the linkage structure, the drive train includes a clutch for selectively disconnecting the linkage from the drive shaft of the motor assembly and a variable torque control assembly for varying the torque produced by the clutch.
Abstract:
Closing arrangement for sliding doors adapted to move between closed and open positions along a lengthwise guide track. The arrangement includes a rotor operatively connected with connecting links connected to the door and arranged to move along the guide track. Brake arrangement is mounted with a drive member mounted in coaxial alignment with the rotor shaft. The closing arrangement is provided with a coupling device which is operatively connected to the rotor shaft and comprises an electromagnetic coupling and a friction coupling mounted on a common shaft. The coupling device prevents an inadvertant backward movement of the open sliding door to its closed position.
Abstract:
A remotely controlled gate opener for use with a pivotable fence gate is characterized by a closed loop drive chain which is mounted around a set of three triangularly positioned fixed sprockets including a motorized drive sprocket and two positioning sprockets. The gate opener is mounted adjacent the gate post supporting the gate and the gate is attached to the drive chain at a point between the positioning sprockets such that the drive chain, when propelled by the motor, acts to pivot the gate. The preferred embodiment includes a radio controlled motor controller for remote control of the gate opener.
Abstract:
A door operator of electromechanical character for utilization with pivotally mounted doors, as by a center pivot, a butt hinge, or an offset pivot, comprising a prime mover, a driving shaft, adapted for rotation about a vertical axis and being secured through an arm to the door to be operated. A gear train interconnects said prime mover and said driving shaft wherein the gears are mounted as by a unique arrangement of needle roller and needle thrust bearings to permit said gear train to operate smoothly in door opening operation as a speed reducer and in door closing operation as a gear increaser. Energy storing means operatively connected to said driving shaft for storing energy during door opening operation and for energy releasing to drive said gear shaft during door closing operation. The said operator is adapted for compact disposition within the header of a door frame.
