    摘要: Plural cylinders are grouped, for example, into two cylinder groups composed of plural cylinders having each inspiration stroke in an equal distance, and each of the grouped cylinder groups is communicated with a volume chamber. To this volume chamber is connected each of the independent air intake passages extending independently or separately from each of the corresponding cylinder. A first connecting portion is disposed to communicate the individual air intake passages for each of the cylinder groups with each other in a position spaced apart in an equal distance from an intake port. Further, a second connecting portion as a resonant passage is disposed to communicate one first connecting portion with the other connecting portion for each cylinder group.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine inlet manifold comprises upper and lower castings which together define a plenum and a vacuum reservoir separated by a common dividing wall. Inlet tracts connect the plenum to an engine to be supplied with air and an inlet port connects the plenum to atmosphere through a variable throttle. The reservoir includes an outlet port for connection of the reservoir to a device requiring a source of vacuum and is connected to the plenum by means of a one way flow valve operable to permit the egress of air from the reservoir when the pressure in the plenum is lower than that subsisting in the reservoir but to prevent the flow of air from the plenum to the reservoir when the pressure in the plenum is higher than that subsisting in the reservoir.

    摘要: A boat propulsion unit controller includes a switch arranged to switch between a long intake duct and a short intake duct for drawing air into an engine of a boat propulsion unit, a motor-operated driver arranged to drive the switch, a duct length switching position sensor arranged to detect the position of the switch at the time of switching the duct length, a fuel supply arranged to supply fuel to the engine, a sensor failure detector arranged to detect failure of the duct length switching position sensor based on its output, and a controller arranged to compensate the fuel supply rate based on the position of the switch detected at the time of duct length switchover. A controller, when the duct length switching position sensor fails, takes the action of switching to the long intake duct and compensates the fuel supply rate using a sensor output quasi value corresponding to the time of switchover to the long intake duct. Engine performance may be maintained as much as possible even when duct length switchover fails due to frequent duct length switchover actions.
