    摘要: An expandable manifold comprises an expansion chamber defined by a resilient surface. Intake is provided by a conduit extending into the chamber. As reverse impulses resulting from the closing of an intake valve enter the expansion chamber from the output end of the chamber, the volume of the chamber increases as the resilient surface expands. The reverse impulses propagate along the inner surface of the resilient surface toward a void defined by the outer surface of the conduct and the inner surface of the resilient surface. When the intake valve reopens, the reverse impulse flow is redirected and combined with intake flow from the source of fuel/air. The reverse impulses are redirected within and proximate the void. Energy associated with the reverse flow is redirected and combined with the forward flow to improve overall engine performance.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a fresh gas supply system for an internal combustion engine, in particular of a motor vehicle. A fresh gas distributor can be connected on the inlet side with a fresh gas feed line, and on the outlet side to an internal combustion engine by means of several connection pipes. The connection pipes are allocated in each case to a combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine. An improvement in the fresh gas supply system can be achieved in that a bypass resonator or Helmholtz resonator is connected to the fresh gas distributor, which, at a predetermined revolution speed of the internal combustion engine, improves the fresh gas filling of the combustion chambers by resonance charging.

In a closed valve state of the valve element, the rotating shaft seal moves radially due to a pressure difference between a high fluid pressure acting on one side of the valve element and a low fluid pressure acting on the other side and contacts both the valve element and the rotation supporting portion on the high fluid pressure side.
