    摘要: Two speakers are mounted on an engine air induction system to broadcast respective pressure waves into the induction system. One speaker is near the junction of a runner and a plenum. The other is near the outside air intake. Both speakers are driven by electronic circuitry. The one speaker is driven to introduce a pressure wave that reinforces the portion of a pressure wave from an engine cylinder that is reflected back toward the cylinder by the impedance change that exists at the runner/plenum junction, thereby augmenting the charge introduced into the cylinder. The other speaker is driven to cancel the combined pressure waves that travel toward the air intake and is itself sufficiently close to the air intake that the pressure wave that it emits through the air intake has substantially less energy content than would be the case if such cancellation were not conducted.

    摘要: An intake sound generator for an internal combustion engine of a vehicle, the internal combustion engine having an intake manifold for distributing a combustion mixture to a plurality of cylinders of the engine, and an engine throttle controlled by an electronic engine management system for regulating the flow of the combustion mixture into the intake manifold, the engine management system being coupled to an engine throttle lever whose position indicates the engine throttle position desired by a driver of the vehicle, and the intake sound generator comprising: a sound outlet port at an intake manifold; a first sound transmission tube connected to the sound outlet port and adapted to conduct engine-generated sound pulses from the intake manifold; sound receiving means coupled to the first sound transmission tube and operable to receive engine-generated sound pulses conducting along the first sound transmission tube; a sound throttle connected along the first sound transmission tube at a point intermediate between the sound receiving means and the sound outlet port, the sound throttle being operable to regulate engine-generated sound pulses conducted along the first sound transmission tube; and sound providing means operable to provide engine-generated sound pulses received at the sound receiving means into a vehicle cabin; wherein the intake sound generator is configured such that the sound throttle position varies in dependence on the position of the engine throttle lever and is independent of the engine throttle position.

    摘要: A active noise control system having a digital signal processor programmed to function as adaptive digital filter with an output saturation control is described. The programmed adaptive filter has a specified maximum value for its output signal, above which the output signal becomes clipped and a condition commonly known as filter output saturation occurs. According to the described system, the filter output signal value is monitored to detect the occurrence of filter output saturation. When output saturation is detected, the normal adaptation of the filter is modified to reduce the value of the filter output signal to prevent the further occurrence of filter output saturation. Based upon the detection of filter output saturation, a power reference level is established to estimate the maximum average power that the output signal can contain without causing saturation. The adaptation of filter weighting coefficients is then scaled in accordance with the difference between the established power reference level and a computed average power associated with the filter output signal to prevent the occurrence of filter output saturation.

The electronic pressure charging system includes a pressure sensor, a signal generator, and a wave generator.     摘要: An intake manifold includes a plenum volume 14 mounted for movement within a housing 20 in response to a drive system 22 to define an effective runner length. A multiple of deformable runner passages 18 include a flexible section 26 such that as the plenum 14 extends and retracts within the housing 20, the flexible section 26 accommodates the difference in length while the housing 20 provides structural support therefor. An intake conduit 12 likewise includes a flexible section 26 to accommodate movement of the plenum 14. In operation at low engine speeds, the plenum 14 is driven to extend the deformable runner passages 18 to increase the length between the plenum 14 and the engine cylinders 16. As the engine speed increases, the plenum 14 is driven to shorten the deformable runner 18 for maximum speed operation.
