Abstract: A method and system for increasing the collection of network traffic data in a network based on the occurrence of predetermined criteria. A network appliance manages network traffic in the network and passes data traffic on the network. Network traffic data is collected based on the data traffic passing through the network appliance at a normal level. It is determined whether the network traffic data indicates an abnormal condition. The collection of network traffic data is increased through the network traffic appliance when an abnormal condition is detected. The network traffic data from the increased collection is stored in a memory device.

Abstract: The disclosure provides an approach for selecting a path to use in transferring a virtual computing instance such as a virtual machine (VM), across data centers. In one embodiment, throughput and throttling information are sampled (e.g., per second) when VMs are transferred from a source data center to a destination data center, and the sampled information is used to construct histograms that provide performance profiles of the VM transfers. Such histogram information across a number of VM transfers can then be mined to determine trends. In turn, trends determined from historical histogram information may be extrapolated into the future to predict performance of a subsequent VM transfer operation and to select a path and/or destination storage and host pair to use for the VM transfer operation.

Abstract: A method of controlling performance of a wireless device is performed by a node that is in electronic communication with a cellular network. The node includes a processor, a non-transitory memory, and a network interface. The method includes receiving a performance value characterizing a performance of a communication channel between a wireless device and a wireless access point. In some implementations, the wireless device and the cellular network are associated with different radio access technologies (RATs). The method includes determining whether the performance value breaches a performance criterion for the wireless device. The method includes adjusting a first amount of data transmitted to the wireless device from a base station of the cellular network and a second amount of data transmitted to the wireless device from the wireless access point. In some implementations, the combined first and second amounts of data satisfy the performance criterion for the wireless device.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a node in a network reports, to a supervisory service, histograms of application-specific throughput metrics measured from the network. The node receives, from the supervisory service, a merged histogram of application-specific throughput metrics. The supervisory service generated the merged histogram based on a plurality of histograms reported to the supervisory service by a plurality of nodes. The node performs, using the merged histogram, application throughput anomaly detection on traffic in the network. The node causes performance of a mitigation action in the network when an application throughput anomaly is detected. The node adjusts, based on a control command sent by the supervisory service, a histogram reporting strategy used by the node to report the histograms of application-specific throughput metrics to the supervisory service.

Abstract: A node failure recovery tool includes an interface and one or more processors. The interface is configured to receive one or more portions of state information from a first node, each of the one or more portions of state information comprising data corresponding to a user and an action and an indication of whether the portion of state information is related to one or more other portions of state information. The one or more processors are configured to determine a time corresponding to each of the one or more portions of state information and determine that the first node has crashed. The one or more processors are further configured to determine the portion of state information that was last received from the first node and send, to the first node, the portion of state information that was last received from the first node.

Abstract: A method for monitoring a network includes generating a first receiving sequence number representing a first location within a first ordered sequence of a number of data packets as received by a receiving device, and extracting a first transmission sequence number representing a second location within a second ordered sequence of the number of data packets as transmitted by a transmitting device. The method further includes generating a second receiving sequence number representing a third location within the first ordered sequence of the number of data packets, extracting a second transmission sequence number representing a fourth location within the second ordered sequence of the number of data packets. The method further includes generating a measurement of network transmission based at least on the first receiving sequence number, the first transmission sequence number, the second receiving sequence number, and the second transmission sequence number.

Abstract: A system providing distributed gateway services in a building includes a plurality of gateways connected to a building server. A first gateway including a processing circuit configured to receive data points from a first set of HVAC devices, generate a first point list based on the data s points, send the first point list to the building server, receive a second point list for a second set of one or more HVAC devices managed by the second gateway, and receive configuration data based on the second gateway being disconnected from the building server. The configuration data includes drivers for communicating with the second set of HVAC devices. The processing circuit is configured to extract data from the second and second sets of HVAC devices based on the first point list, the second point list and the configuration data and send the extracted data to the building server.

Abstract: A method for analyzing a wireless link (3) of a wireless node of a customer premises equipment (CPE) device (1) during operation of the CPE device comprises: performing an active test, during which a data transmission is forced through the wireless link, to obtain a first set of parameters, and performing before or after the active test a passive test, which is a monitoring ode during which a data transmission of the CPE device is monitored, to obtain a second set of parameters. In particular, based on the first set of parameters, it is determined whether and to which extent the wireless link is in an uncertainty zone, and based on the second set of parameters, the decision is made to assign an observed decrease in a measured data rate to physics effects or to interference effects.

Abstract: Systems, apparatus, methods and computer-readable storage media that mitigate implantable medical device (IMD) power drain associated with stalled telemetry sessions are provided. In one embodiment, an IMD includes a housing configured to be implanted within a patient, a memory and a processor that executes executable components stored in the memory. The executable components include a communication component configured to receive a communication request from an external device via a telemetry communication link established between the IMD and the external device. The communication request can comprise a request for data. The executable components can also comprise a throughput monitoring component configured to monitor uplink throughput associated with transmission of the data by the IMD to the external device via the telemetry communication link based on reception of the communication request. The communication component is configured to terminate the telemetry communication link based on the uplink throughput being below a threshold value.
