Abstract: A lobster catching device includes an elongated hollow shaft having a control mechanism connected to the first end, and a grasping assembly connected to the second end. The control mechanism includes a handle and trigger that move a wire within the shaft. The wire transitions a pair of arms extending outward from the grasping assembly between an open and closed position, and a trigger lock secures the assembly in the current position when engaged. The arms are constructed from a malleable material which bends when a maximum pressure is applied onto the lobster to prevent crushing the animal. A blocking panel is connected to the main body of the grasping assembly and includes a planar member that is oriented parallel to the arms. The blocking panel engages the tail of a lobster when the arms are grabbing the carapace.

Abstract: An apparatus for loading a crossbow includes a first member having a first portion defining a first handle and a second portion defining a first hollow semi-cylinder. A second member has a third portion defining a second handle and a fourth portion defining a second hollow semi-cylinder. The first and second members are rotatable with respect to each other about an axis. The first member is selectively rotatable with respect to the second member about the axis between a first position and a second position. The first hollow semi-cylinder and the second hollow semi-cylinder cooperate to define a hollow cylinder when the first member is in the first position with respect to the second member. The first hollow semi-cylinder and the second hollow semi-cylinder are separated when the first member is in the second position with respect to the second member.

Abstract: An insertion instrument comprises an insertion portion including a bending portion provided at a distal end side of the insertion portion, a first wire provided in the insertion portion, and an operation portion provided at a proximal end side of the insertion portion. The operation portion includes a bending operation unit. The bending operation unit includes a lever having a central shaft defining a central axis, a rotor coupled to the lever, a wire attachment surface to which the first wire is attached. An inner surface of the operation portion includes a receiver body and a restriction body. The receiver body supports the rotor for rotation about the central axis and for movement of the lever from a neutral position to an inclined position, where, in the inclined position, the central shaft is inclined relative to the central shaft in the neutral position. Movement of the lever from the neutral position to the inclined position pulls the first wire to bend the bending portion. The restriction surface restricts a portion of the rotation of the rotor about the central axis.

Abstract: An apparatus for coupling a robot arm to a tool that is suspended by an ergonomic arm capable of supporting 3D motion of the tool within a working volume. The apparatus includes a tool sleeve configured to accept the tool, a freely rotating rotary fitting coupled to the tool sleeve, and a coupling that couples a distal end of the robot arm to the rotary fitting. When the tool is inserted into the tool sleeve, the tool is free to rotate around the rotational axis with respect to the robot arm, such that a motion of the distal end of the robot arm does not impose a torque between the robot arm and the tool around the rotational axis, and such that motion of the distal end of the robot arm repositions or reorients the tool within at least a portion of the working volume.

Abstract: A system and method of providing feedback during manual joint positioning includes a computer-assisted device having an articulated structure including a joint and a control unit coupled to the articulated structure. To provide feedback to a user during manual positioning of the joint by a user, the control unit is configured to determine a first target position for the joint, release a brake associated with the joint when the joint is moving toward the first target position, apply the brake when the joint is moving away from the first target position, and change the first target position to a second target position when the joint is at the first target position.
