    摘要: A substantially crimpless and monolithic paperboard container lid and method of making same is provided. The lid comprises a single contiguous molded paperboard body configured to conformingly couple to a top periphery of a container for covering the container's opening. The body includes a sealing ring located adjacent the body's periphery. The sealing ring includes a sealing channel composed of a radiused cross-section that extends to a tangent ring terminating with a tab ring. The radiused cross-section and tangent ring assist providing a snug fit between the lid and the container. Despite being made from paperboard, the lid does not include one or more substantial crimps in the sealing ring. Having no substantial crimps, the lid fits onto the container and prevents fluid from leaking between the container's periphery and the lid.

A second cast-in heater is mounted within a recess in the second die and includes a resistor wire embedded within a thermally conductive cast-in material.

    摘要: In the production of (cigarette) packs of the hinge-lid type, supplying a sufficient amount of material to the packaging machine presents a particular problem. In an advantageous solution, blanks (20) for producing the packs are severed from a continuous web of material (24) with punchings for delimiting the blanks (20) and further processed within the packaging machine. For the efficient production of (individual) blanks from the continuous web of material (24), the latter is fed to a blank station (26), in which preferably two respective blanks (20a, 20a) lying next to one another are severed by shearing from the following web of material (24) and from one another by means of severing rams (29). The two blanks (20a, 20b) so formed and individually separated are then fed to a folding turret (40), specifically appropriately with an intermediate conveyor in the form of a rotating blank turret (43) being interposed. The blank turret (43) is appropriately designed so that by means of rams (45, 46) movable in the radial direction or downwards the blanks are lifted off from the blank turret (43) and, at the same time being partially folded, can be introduced into turret pockets (41, 42) of the folding turret (40).

    摘要: An apparatus and method is provided for simultaneously forming at least two interconnected deep-drawn containers in a single sheet of paper stock or the like. The apparatus includes a female die assembly formed to include a material-receiving cavity situated between spaced-apart first and second container-forming cavities. A blade assembly pushes a portion of the single sheet downwardly into the material-receiving cavity to provide a source of excess paperboard material from which the paper for adjacent containers can be drawn. A male die assembly moves to engage the female die assembly and draw at least the excess paperboard material deposited in the material-receiving cavity to form containers in the first and second container-forming cavities. A draw ring holds the sheet against the female die assembly during operation of the male die assembly. The apparatus and method are usable to simultaneously draw a pair of containers joined together by a hinged section so that one container can be folded about an axis over the other container to provide a clamshell container assembly.

    摘要: A rectangular tray-type carton formed from a blank of plastics-coated board has a peripheral flange for attachment of a closure lid. The flange is formed after the erection of the carton side wall in a punch and die arrangement, by folding down elongate panels carried along the free edges of the side wall and by subsequently joining the panels together at their ends by means of overlapping tabs which are heat-sealed together. In order to avoid damage to the tabs during formation of the side wall the uppermost tabs are folded out of the plane of the blank before it enters the punch and die arrangement.

    摘要: A mandrel has its face formed to define a negative impression of reinforcing elements to be formed into the walls of a Bliss box. The reinforcing elements may comprise tubular corner posts and/or intermediate hollow ribs or posts. The mandrel is mounted in a machine frame for reciprocation along its axis so that upon full extension of the mandrel it is disposed within a die cavity in which the Bliss body panel is formed around a pair of upstanding end panels. When fully retracted, the mandrel is positioned beneath and adjacent to a pair of magazines for holding supplies of flat end panel blanks, positioned on opposite sides of a superstructure frame of the mandrel. The superstructure is fitted with spaced pairs of feed pawls, a first set of which strips the flat end panels out of the supply magazines to deliver them to an arrested position, corresponding to the retracted position of the mandrel, as a result of extension of the mandrel. Concurrently, the flaps of each end panel are partially shoed inwardly. Upon subsequent full retraction of the mandrel, the partially folded flaps of the end panels are folded into and have portions formed by post defining impressions of the mandrel face. Upon a subsequent extension of the mandrel, a pair of thus fully formed end panels are fed into the die cavity along with a pre-glued body blank which is erected thereby.

    摘要: Apparatus for forming a tapered, nestable leakproof container having a bottom wall integral with front and back panels and side panels and a triangular connecting panel between additional panels extending from the front and back panels and the side panels, wherein the apparatus comprises a die and a tapered mandrel for forcing a blank through the die. The container blank is positioned on a support immediately above the die and held in position by guides on the support. Before the tapered mandrel engages the blank, glue is applied to the outer edges of the side panels of the rear wall of the container at the inner surfaces adjacent the outer edges of side panels connected to the rear panel and at the inner surface adjacent the outer edges of the side panels. The blank is forced into the die by the tapered mandrel. Appropriate pressure rollers resist the entry of the mandrel and move outwardly as the mandrel moves into the die moving the blank into the die. These pressure rollers engage firmly against the outer surfaces of the sections of the blank to which the glue has been applied and provide resilient pressure in order to squeeze and spread the glue and to press the glue into formation. The die is thus not a rigid die, but one which may yield to and follow the tapered form of the mandrel. Additional pressure rollers may be provided for the portions of the die engaging the front and back walls of the blank in order to provide firm guidance for the blank. The blank, after being pushed through the die, drops down and is delivered to the user's conveyor.
