摘要: Medetomidine or a salt thereof for use in controlling parasitic crustaceans, such as sea lice, on fish, e.g. salmon. A method of improving water flow into and out of a cage or net for fish farming, by providing said cage or net with a surface coating containing medetomidine or a salt thereof in an amount effective to reduce biofouling of said cage or net. The coating is capable of releasing medetomidine or the salt thereof into the water in the cage or net in an amount effective to reduce or prevent parasitic infestation of the fish in the cage or net.

摘要: A method for external fish parasites, such as sea lice, monitoring in aquaculture, comprising the steps of: —submerging a camera (52) in a sea pen (40) comprising fish (72, 74); —capturing images of the fish (72, 74) with the camera (52); and —identifying external fish parasites such as sea lice on the fish (72, 74) by analyzing the captured images, characterized by the steps of: —distinguishing between at least two different classes of external fish parasites such as sea lice which differ in the difficulty of recognizing the external fish parasites such as sea lice; —calculating quality metrics for each captured image, the quality metrics permitting to identify the classes of external fish parasites such as sea lice for which the quality of the image is sufficient for sea lice detection; and —establishing separate detection rates for each class of sea lice, each detection rate being based only on images the quality of which, as described by the quality metrics, was sufficient for detecting external fish parasites such as sea lice of that class.

摘要: The subject invention provides microbe-based products, as well as their use, for enhancing aquaculture. In particular, the subject invention provides materials and methods for producing healthy and high quality farmed fish by applying yeast and/or bio surfactant-based compositions to a fish farm. In one embodiment, the subject invention improves the environment in which the fish are farmed. In another embodiment, the subject invention provides a highly nutritious fish feed, as well as methods of feeding fish at low cost.

摘要: Aquaculture systems and methods are provided, as well as immunogenic compositions and methods of immunologically protecting bivalves against specified pathogens. Methods include inactivating specified pathogens using UV (ultraviolet) radiation, exposing invertebrates grown or to be grown in aquaculture to the specified UV-inactivated pathogens to enhance an immune reaction of the exposed invertebrates toward the specified pathogens, and growing the exposed invertebrates in aquaculture. For example, the methods were demonstrated to increase the immune response of oysters to ostreid herpesvirus 1 (OsHV-1) following their prior exposure to UV-inactivated OsHV-1.

摘要: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-storage media, for a calibration target for ultrasonic removal of ectoparasites from fish. In some implementations, the calibration target includes a fish-shaped structure, sensors positioned at different locations of the fish-shaped structure, a processor that receives sensor values from the sensors, and a transmitter that outputs sensor data from the calibration target based on the sensor values.

摘要: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-storage media, for obtaining initial parameters for ultrasonic transducers around a calibration target. The calibration target can include a fish-shaped structure, sensors placed at different locations of the fish-shaped structure, a processor that receives sensor values from the sensors, and a transmitter that outputs sensor data from the calibration target based on the sensor values. The calibration target can be fixed at a particular position relative to the ultrasonic transducers by a filament coupled to both the calibration target and a support structure. Sensor data can be obtained from the calibration target at the particular position relative to the ultrasonic transducers, and relative locations of the sensors can be determined. Parameters for the ultrasonic transducers around the calibration target can be adjusted based on the sensor data and the respective locations of the sensors.

摘要: Provided is a system for automatically removing mortalities, such as deceased fish or other animals, from an aquaculture cage. An underwater robotic vehicle can traverse an aquaculture cage to collect the mortalities. The collected mortalities can be delivered by the vehicle to a dock, where the mortalities can be offloaded from the vehicle and stored in the dock. The mortalities can be pumped to a surface vessel where the mortalities can be dewatered, photographed, and/or weighed, before being stored for further processing.

摘要: The present invention pertains to a method for automatic sea lice monitoring in fish aquaculture, the method comprising submerging a camera (4) in a sea pen (300) comprising fish, using the camera to make an image of at least one of said fish, analysing the image to differentiate between individual sea lice present on the fish and the fish itself and assessing the number of sea lice present on the fish, wherein the camera is attached to a device (1, 10, 100) for guiding the salmon along an imaging track (5), the camera being directed to the track.

摘要: A method for improving the quality of pond water used in aquaculture applications by adding to the pond water active bacteria that are preferably germinated from spores on site using a nutrient-germinant composition and an incubation method for increased spore germination efficiency, in combination with a nitrification enhancement agent such as calcium carbonate or calcified seaweed, and an optional reaction surface area modifier such as calcified seaweed or plastic or metal particles or fragments. The nutrient-germinant composition comprises L-amino acids, D-glucose and/or D-fructose, a phosphate buffer, an industrial preservative, and may include bacteria spores (preferably of one or more Bacillus species) or they may be separately combined for germination. The incubation method comprises heating a nutrient germinant composition and bacteria spores, to a temperature range of 35° C. to 60° C. for around 2 to 60 minutes to produce an incubated bacteria solution that is discharged to the aquaculture application.
