    摘要: The present invention provides an exhaust system comprising an elongated hollow casing having an upstream muffler chamber containing an insulated removable cartridge for sound absorbing and sound collecting, an intermediate chamber containing a removable spark and moisture arrester and a downstream chamber having a removable and replaceable cartridge containing exhaust gas purifying material. In one embodiment the cartridge provides dual chambers, one for absorbing and absorbing exhaust gas pollutants and the other for catalytic conversion of the same or different exhaust gases. The purifying cartridge is constructed of a foraminous material such as heat and corrosion resistant wire mesh or screen. Similarly, the muffler cartridge is an elongated hollow shell formed of a foraminous heat and corrosion resistant material such as wire mesh or screen. The annular space around the muffler cartridge is preferably filled with a heat-resistant, sound-absorbing, gas previous material. The purifier chamber is provided with guide vanes to direct the exhaust gases over the purifier material and through and out of the purifying chamber. In another embodiment the muffler cartridge is provided with a plurality of sound attenuating chambers.

    摘要: An element of a sound arresting device has a cylinder and a blade integrally formed in the cylinder and helically twisted along the longitudinal direction of the cylinder. A plurality of elements are coupled to each other along their longitudinal direction and are fitted in a pipe. The ends of the two adjacent blades are perpendicular to each other. The pipe is covered with a sound insulating material. The elements and the pipe are made of a porous metal material, a porous plastic material or a porous ceramic material. When the sound arresting device is used as an automobile muffler, acoustic waves propagating in the gas are repeatedly mixed, interfere with each other and are absorbed by the apertures and the sound insulating material, thereby decreasing noise from the engine. Dust in the exhaust gas is captured by the apertures of the elements and the pipe, and is removed from the exhaust gas.

    摘要: The invention relates to an improvement of a silencer arranged in a gas flow passage of a gas supply or exhaust system and includes a sound absorbing material lined on wall surfaces of the gas flow passage in a duct casing. According to the invention, the sound absorbing material is covered with guard plates, each provided with a number of sound absorbing apertures and oblique plates located at edges of the apertures, for preventing gas flow from entering the sound absorbing material. The silencer according to the invention is capable of preventing accumulation of dust on the sound absorbing material and eliminating damage to the sound absorbing material due to entering of the gas flow thereinto. Thus, the silencer is particularly useful to diminish noise which is caused by gas flow when the gas contains a great amount of dust or when the gas flows at a high speed.

    摘要: A sound-attenuating ventilation louver is provided for location in an aperture of a wall which separates a chamber containing a source of noise from the external environment, the purpose of the louver being to allow gaseous flows to pass into and out of the chamber while minimizing the noise passing out through the louver from the noise source. The louver includes a plurality of profiled slats each in the form of an aerodynamically-shaped blade. Each slat includes a solid portion made of a sound-absorbent material and a hollow portion defined by a thin wall of rigid material; in use of the louver the sound-absorbent solid portion of each slat is disposed towards the chamber containing the noise source while the hollow portion is disposed towards the external environment. The hollow portion of each slat is subdivided into a plurality of chambers communicating with the atmosphere through ports and acting as resonators.

    摘要: An exhaust silencer for use with small vehicles which use low speed engines and have minimal space available for the silencer while still requiring a long exhaust path to silence the low frequency engine pulsations. The silencer includes a silencer chamber with an axis, and an exhaust pipe with a U-shape, one arm of which extends axially into the chamber, and the other arm of which extends parallel to the axis outside of the chamber, both for a substantial part of the length of the chamber. At least the bight of the U-shaped pipe is double-walled to minimize the emission of pulsations from that portion of the exhaust pipe.

An inlet pipe directs a gas stream into the expansion chamber, and a pair of angularly disposed tubes direct the gas upward through a divider into the separator chamber with a swirling motion along the interior wall surface. A tubular central outlet extends through the upper end closure and has an entrance a substantial vertical distance therebelow. A peripheral baffle adjacent the interior wall collects entrained particles in the separator section and the collected particles are drained through a tube that may lead to the bottom of the expansion chamber. A perforated cylindrical body filled with a noise-attenuating fibrous substance is coaxially supported within the central outlet.
