摘要: An apparatus may include a circuit configured to receive first and second samples of an underlying data from respective first and second sample periods and which correspond to respective first and second sensors, a phase control value may have first and second values during respective first and second sample periods. The phase control value may be a control value for a sample clock signal. The circuit may also determine a difference in the phase control value between the first value and the second value. The circuit may then digitally interpolate the first and second samples to produce a phase shifted first and second samples where the digital interpolation of at least one of the first and second samples mat be at least in part based on the difference in the phase control value to compensate for a phase misalignment between the first sample and the second sample.

摘要: A magnetic recording medium includes a recording surface comprising a first recording layer having a first ferromagnetic resonant frequency and a second recording layer having a second ferromagnetic resonant frequency. The first recording layer is configured for storing user data and the second recording layer configured for storing servo data. A recording head arrangement is configured for microwave-assisted magnetic recording (MAMR) and writing user data to the first recording layer. The recording head arrangement comprises a write pole configured to generate a write magnetic field, and a write-assist arrangement proximate the write pole. The write-assist arrangement is configured to generate a radiofrequency assist magnetic field at a frequency that corresponds to the first ferromagnetic resonant frequency. A reader of the recording head arrangement is configured to read combined signals from the first and second recording layers.

In some embodiments, the controller may be configured to assess at least one operation of a read/write head of the disk drive; and format, based at least in part on the assessing of the read/write head, a disk surface of the disk drive with a first servo zone, a second servo zone, and an overlap region extending between a start point of the second servo zone and an end point of the first servo zone. In some cases, the overlap region starts towards a disk inner diameter (ID) and ends towards a disk outer diameter (OD).

摘要: Methods for magnetic recording are provided. The method can include: assembling a plurality of nanoparticles into a pattern on a disc; applying a polymer composition onto the pattern of nanoparticles; curing the polymer composition to form a polymer film on the disc, wherein the plurality of nanoparticles are immobilized in the pattern within the polymer film upon curing; and removing the polymer film containing the plurality of nanoparticles in the pattern. Diffraction gratings are also provided that can include a polymeric film comprising a plurality of nanoparticles immobilized in a pattern, wherein the polymer film defines a curvature.

摘要: A data storage device is disclosed comprising a voice coil motor (VCM) and a secondary actuator configured to actuate a head over a disk. A position error signal (PES) is generated based on servo data recorded on the disk, and a first control signal is generated based on the PES. The PES is adjusted based on the first control signal to generate a first adjusted PES, and a second control signal is generated based on the first adjusted PES. A secondary actuator control signal is generated based on the first control signal and the second control signal, wherein the secondary actuator control signal is applied to the secondary actuator. The first adjusted PES is adjusted based on the second control signal to generate a second adjusted PES, and a VCM control signal is generated based on the second adjusted PES, wherein the VCM control signal is applied to the VCM.
