摘要: A transmission apparatus, a transmission method, and a program that can reduce the number of times that useless transmission of image data is performed due to a failure in reception of image data indicating a reference destination. A transmission failure likelihood data management section checks the likelihood of a failure in transmission of first image data. Second image is an image rendered in a frame buffer for the first time after a timing when a predetermined time has elapsed since the transmission of the first image data. An encoding processing section controls whether or not to generate second image data requiring no reference destination, depending on the likelihood of the failure in the transmission of the first image data at a timing of encoding the second image.

摘要: A video coder that constrains the total number of regular bins used for entropy coding syntax elements of a current block is provided. The video coder entropy encodes or decodes the syntax elements selectively as either regular bins using context modeling or as bypass bins without context modeling. A constraint is specified to limit a total number of regular bins used for entropy coding the syntax elements of the current block. There may be no constraint limiting a number of regular bins specific to an individual syntax element of the current block.

The method includes: when a forcible bit rate control condition is satisfied, performing bit truncation of a spatial-domain branch and coefficient discarding of a frequency domain branch on a to-be-encoded block at the same time, calculating cost values respectively corresponding to the bit truncation and the coefficient discarding, and determining a final encoded bit based on the two cost values, so as to improve image decoding quality as much as possible while preventing bitstream buffer overflow.

摘要: A method and apparatus for encoding surveillance video where one or more regions of interest are identified and the encoding parameter values associated with those regions are specified in accordance with intermediate outputs of a video analytics process. Such an analytics-modulated video compression approach allows the coding process to adapt dynamically based on the content of the surveillance images. In this manner, the fidelity of the region of interest is increased relative to that of a background region such that the coding efficiency is improved, including instances when no target objects appear in the scene. Better compression results can be achieved by assigning different coding priority levels to different types of detected objects.

摘要: Innovations in control and use of chroma quantization parameter (“QP”) values that depend on luma QP values. More generally, the innovations relate to control and use of QP values for a secondary color component that depend on QP values for a primary color component. For example, during encoding, an encoder determines a QP index from a primary component QP and secondary component QP offset. The encoder maps the QP index to a secondary component QP, which has an extended range. The encoder outputs at least part of a bitstream including the encoded content. A corresponding decoder receives at least part of a bitstream including encoded content. During decoding, the decoder determines a QP index from a primary component QP and secondary component QP offset, then maps the QP index to a secondary component QP, which has an extended range.

摘要: A method and apparatus of video coding are disclosed. A piece-wise linear mapping is derived to map a target luma sample from a first signal domain to a second signal domain, or vice versa. The piece-wise linear mapping process comprises determining first pivot points for performing video encoding or decoding of the luma samples using a piece-wise linear mapping. The first pivot points are determined so that: if a target mapped pivot point corresponding to one first pivot point in the second signal domain has a multiple of the target interval value, the target mapped pivot point and a next mapped pivot point can be located in a same second segment; and otherwise, the target mapped pivot point and the next mapped pivot point cannot be located in the same second segment.
