Abstract: A gyroscope includes a substrate, a first structure, a second structure and a third structure elastically coupled to the substrate and movable along a first axis. The first and second structure are arranged at opposite sides of the third structure with respect to the first axis A driving system is configured to oscillate the first and second structure along the first axis in phase with one another and in phase opposition with the third structure. The first, second and third structure are provided with respective sets of sensing electrodes, configured to be displaced along a second axis perpendicular to the first axis in response to rotations of the substrate about a third axis perpendicular to the first axis and to the second axis.

Abstract: This application discloses systems, devices, and methods for indoor navigation and tracking with a mesh network. In one aspect, a navigation device includes a receiver configured to receive a locational signal from a node network. The locational signal identifies a respective node of the node network, and the node network is distributed throughout a physical space. The navigation device includes a memory storing a program and a processor in communication with the receiver and configured to execute the program to calculate a position of the navigation device from the identity of the respective node, determine a routing instruction from the position of the navigation device to a destination based on the position of the navigation device and a known mapping of the node network in the physical space, and update the position of the navigation device and the routing instruction as the navigation device moves through the physical space.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for classifying a spatial environment as open or enclosed are provided. In the method and apparatus, one or more microphones detect ambient sound in a spatial environment and output an audio signal representative of the ambient sound. A processor determines a spatial environment impulse response (SEIR) for the audio signal and extracts one or more features of the SEIR. The processor classifies the spatial environment as open or enclosed based on the one or more features of the SEIR.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for auto-directive adaptive beamforming for a microphone array using microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) sensor orientation information are provided. The microphone array captures audio and the MEMS sensor detects an orientation of the microphone array. A direction of arrival of a source signal is estimated based on the data representative of the audio. A change in an orientation of the microphone array is detected based on the orientation and the direction of arrival is compensates based on the change in the orientation of the microphone array. The apparatus pre-steers a beam of a beam pattern of the microphone array based on the compensated direction of arrival to retain the source signal in a broadside of the microphone array and performs adaptive wideband beamforming to null one or more interfering sources in the beam pattern while retaining the source signal in the broadside of the microphone array.

Abstract: A distributed computing system for artificial intelligence in autonomously appreciating a circumstance context of a smart device. Raw context data is detected by sensors associated with the smart device. The raw context data is pre-processed by the smart device and then provided to a cloud based server for further processing. At the cloud based server, various sets of feature data are obtained from the pre-processed context data. The various sets of feature data are compared with corresponding classification parameters to determine a classification of a continuous event and/or a classification of transient event, if any, which occur in the context. The determined classification of the continuous event and the transient event will be used to autonomously configure the smart device or another related smart device to fit the context.

Abstract: An embedded system includes a peripheral and system-on-a-chip executing virtual machines and a hypervisor. The peripheral includes a crossbar circuit receiving digital sensor signals and selectively outputting the digital sensor signals to different outputs, queue circuits each receiving a different one of the digital sensor signals from the crossbar circuit, and queue protection circuits associated with the queue circuits and selectively permitting access to one of the queue circuits by the virtual machines. The hypervisor controls the queue protection circuits to set which of the virtual machines may access which queue circuits. A sensor protection circuit selectively permits reading of the digital sensor signals from the crossbar circuit by the queue circuits. The hypervisor controls the sensor protection circuit to set which of the queue circuits may access each of the digital sensor signals from the crossbar circuit.

Abstract: Systems and devices are provided to increase computational and/or power efficiency for one or more neural networks via a computationally driven closed-loop dynamic clock control. A clock frequency control word is generated based on information indicative of a current frame execution rate of a processing task of the neural network and a reference clock signal. A clock generator generates the clock signal of neural network based on the clock frequency control word. A reference frequency may be used to generate the clock frequency control word, and the reference frequency may be based on information indicative of a sparsity of data of a training frame.
