    Abstract: A display device in one embodiment according to the present invention includes a first region including a light emitting layer, a first nitride insulating layer over the light emitting layer, a first organic insulating layer over the first nitride insulating layer, a second nitride insulating layer over the first organic insulating layer, and a third nitride insulating layer over the second nitride insulating layer. The second nitride insulating layer is in contact with the first organic insulating layer and the third nitride insulating layer. An absolute value of a stress of the second nitride insulating layer is greater than or equal to an absolute value of a stress of the first nitride insulating layer and less than an absolute value of a stress of the third nitride insulating layer.

    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a liquid crystal element includes a first transparent substrate, a second transparent substrate, and a first liquid crystal layer cured. The first liquid crystal layer contains first cholesteric liquid crystal and has a reflective surface which reflects first circularly polarized light having a first wavelength. A first helical axis of the first cholesteric liquid crystal is tilted in a uniform direction over an entire area of the first liquid crystal layer. Each of a first outer surface of the first transparent substrate and a second outer surface of the second transparent substrate forms an interface which totally reflects the first circularly polarized light reflected in the first liquid crystal layer.

    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a liquid crystal display device includes a first area, second area, liquid crystal layer, and a plurality of pixels. Each subpixel includes an opening area including a first opening area and a second opening area. The pixels include a first pixel positioned in the first area and a second pixel positioned over a boundary of the first area and the second area. The opening area of the second pixel is smaller than the opening area of the first pixel when opening areas of subpixels of same color are compared. An each imaginary line showing the boundary of the first opening area and the second opening area is a same straight line.

    Abstract: A method for manufacturing a display device includes forming a drive circuit to drive an LED element on an insulating substrate; forming a light absorbing layer on the drive circuit; forming an insulating layer covering the light absorbing layer; forming a connecting electrode electrically connected to the drive circuit; arranging the LED element so that the connecting electrode is in contact with a terminal electrode of the LED element; and bonding the connecting electrode and the terminal electrode by irradiating laser light through a semiconductor layer of the LED element to the light absorbing layer.

    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate and a liquid crystal layer. The first substrate includes a base, a sensor and a sensor circuit. The sensor is interposed between the base and the liquid crystal layer in a display area including pixels. The sensor outputs a sensing signal corresponding to light incident from alongside the liquid crystal layer. The sensor circuit includes a plurality of switching elements. The pixels include first to third sub-pixels. At least some of elements of the switching elements are arranged in each of areas where the first to third sub-pixels are arranged. A signal line for the sensor, which outputs the sensing signal, is placed on a same layer as a feeding line connected to the sensor.

    Abstract: A method for manufacturing a detection device, the detection device comprising a substrate, a plurality of sensor elements arranged on a first principal surface of the substrate, and an insulating film provided above the substrate so as to cover the sensor elements, and the method comprising: causing the first principal surfaces of a pair of the substrates on each of which the sensor elements, the insulating film, and a first projection projecting from a surface of the insulating film are formed to face each other, and bonding together the pair of the substrates; and polishing a second principal surface of each of the pair of the substrates on a side opposite to the first principal surface in a state where the pair of the substrates are bonded together.
