Abstract: A liquid crystal panel has a hole allowing light to pass through or to be shielded, and suppresses an influence on the light passing through the hole. A liquid crystal panel includes: a first substrate having a flat plate shape; a second substrate arranged to face the first substrate; a light shielding film spreading along an inner surface of the second substrate and having the hole formed therein; a plurality of spacers arranged on an outer side of a region between the substrates, the region corresponding to the hole; and a liquid crystal sandwiched between the first substrate and the second substrate. The second substrate is held such that a distance from the first substrate becomes larger as coming closer to the hole, and the portion corresponding to the hole has a shape protruding in a direction extending from the first substrate to the second substrate.

Abstract: To improve the display quality of a display device, the display device includes a display section and a frame section surrounding a periphery of the display section. A substrate in the display device includes a conductor pattern constituting a circuit section and an insulating film serving as an organic film covering the conductor pattern. The insulating film extends to a peripheral edge of the substrate. A slit, which penetrates the insulating film in a thickness direction, is formed in a corner part of the insulating film. The slit is formed at a position not overlapping the circuit section.

Abstract: A display device includes: a light shielding film; a plurality of image lines and a plurality of scanning lines present on an insulating base material; a pixel electrode and a common electrode present in a sub-pixel area surrounded by the plural image lines and the plural scanning lines in a plan view; and a liquid crystal layer driven by an electric field generated between the pixel electrode and the common electrode. A shape of the pixel electrode in a light transmission area surrounded by the light shielding film is a linear shape having no bending portion. The common electrode is overlapped on the plural image lines and the plural scanning lines, and has an opening overlapped on the pixel electrode. Further, each liquid crystal molecule of the liquid crystal layer has a positive dielectric constant. The sub-pixel area has a width of 13 μm or less.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes a thin-film transistor (TFT) substrate and a counter substrate disposed opposite to the TFT substrate. The TFT substrate has a scanning line, a video signal line, and a TFT formed thereon, the TFT being connected to the scanning line and video signal line. The TFT substrate and the counter substrate sandwich liquid crystal therebetween. The TFT substrate has a first electrode connected to the TFT, an insulating film, and a second electrode disposed opposite to the first electrode with the insulating film interposed therebetween. The TFT substrate further has a third electrode formed in the same layer as that of the scanning line. The second electrode has an opening formed between the third electrode and the liquid crystal. The opening has a diameter parallel to a direction in which the scanning line extends and a diameter perpendicular to the scanning line extending direction.
