Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A core network may organize a set of base stations into a set of cell groups, each cell group including one or more base stations, the cell groups being organized based on potential of each base station to cause interference, by downlink transmission, to reception of uplink transmissions at remote base stations. The core network may identify cell group identifications for each cell group and configure the set of base stations with respective cell group identifications so that signals transmitted from individual base stations of each cell group include the respective cell group identification, and so that remote base stations whose uplink transmissions are interfered with can identify the cell group of base stations causing the interference. The number of base stations in a cell group may be iteratively reduced based on identifying the interference.

Abstract: Wake-up signal (WUS) downlink control information (DCI) may be configured to convey a wake-up indication as well as UE wake-up behavior configuration information. For example, WUS DCI may include one or more wake-up indications for one or more UEs via wake-up indication bits (e.g., wake-up indication bits may be conveyed in locations of the WUS DCI associated with monitoring indices of the one or more UEs to be activated). For example, WUS DCI may be encoded to include a wake-up indication and an indication of behavior configuration information for a group of one or more UEs. UE wake-up behavior configuration information may indicate some BWP to activate, may trigger a CSI report, etc. A UE may decode the wake-up indication and the wake-up behavior configuration information based on a monitoring index and the WUS configuration.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In some cases, due to blind decoding and channel estimation (CE) limits, one or more user equipment (UE) specific search sets may be pruned for blind decoding and/or CE purposes. For instance, after hashing a set of common decoding candidates to control channel elements (CCEs) within the control region, the UE specific search sets may be pruned so as to conform to the blind decode limitation, since a common search space has already occupied a portion of the total blind decode limit. Following pruning, the UE may hash the sets of UE-specific decoding candidates associated with the one or more UE specific search sets to CCEs within the control region. The UE may further prune UE specific search sets, based on CE limits, while reusing CE for overlapping hashed locations.

Abstract: The described techniques provide for devices (e.g., a base station, a user equipment (UE)) to determine control channel processing limits for control channels for a CA configuration for a plurality of component carriers (CCs) with mixed numerology and synchronicities (e.g., CCs may have different transmission time interval (TTI) durations, subcarrier spacings, or frame timing). The devices may determine control channel processing limits for numerology groups or synchronization groups of the CA configuration based on a UE capability for processing control channels for a number of CCs, which may be allocated proportionally according to number of cells, allocated equally, or allocated using weighting factors assigned to synchronization or numerology groups. A base station may establish a CA configuration or control channel configuration according to the capability, or may ensure that a per-numerology restraint is not exceeded by determining a combined processing parameter.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some wireless communications systems, a user equipment (UE) may be configured with multiple control resource sets (CORESETs) within a slot. The UE may identify a set of physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) occasions to monitor within the slot, where each PDCCH occasion corresponds to a search space set for a CORESET. The UE may determine a first configuration and a second configuration for monitoring the PDCCH occasions, where the first configuration corresponds to slot-based thresholds and the second configuration corresponds to symbol-based or occasion-based thresholds for monitoring. These thresholds may specify a threshold number of PDCCH candidates to blind decode, a threshold number of non-overlapping control channel elements (CCEs) to perform channel estimation for, or both, where the threshold numbers support low latency processing at the UE. Either the configuration or the UE may enforce the thresholds.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may obtain access to a base station by performing an initial access procedure within an initial access bandwidth that contains control channel resources. The UE may receive a configuration of a downlink bandwidth part (BWP) following the initial access procedure, and may determine that the downlink BWP fully contains the initial access bandwidth. In some cases, the UE may make the determination based on an indication sent from the base station. For instance, the indication may be provided as part of one or more control channel configurations transmitted to the UE. Based on determining that the downlink BWP fully contains the initial access bandwidth, the UE may monitor for control information in the downlink BWP using control channel resources in the downlink BWP that correspond to control channel resources used in the initial access bandwidth.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some wireless communications systems, a base station may transmit control information to a user equipment (UE) in search space candidates within a configured search space. To flexibly configure the search space, the base station may determine a reference aggregation level. The base station may add a number of pseudo search space candidates to the reference aggregation level such that the control channel element (CCE) footprint of the reference aggregation level can handle nesting all of the candidates for other aggregation levels. In some cases, the base station may overbook the search space past a CCE limit. The base station may implement an overbooking rule to determine search space candidates to drop from the configuration. The base station may transmit using the search space configuration, and the UE may monitor and decode information according to the configuration.

Abstract: Systems and techniques are disclosed to reduce pilot overhead by providing common reference signals coded with cover codes that are orthogonal in time and frequency domains. Common reference signals that are coded by cover codes orthogonal in both domains can be de-spread in both the time and frequency domains for improved resolution and larger pull-in windows for both. Also disclosed is semi-uniform pilot spacing in both the frequency and time domains. In a time domain, a first pilot symbol pair is spaced by a first time interval from each other and a second pilot symbol pair is spaced by a second time interval from the first pair, the second interval being greater than the first. In a frequency domain, a first set of pilot symbols is densely placed in a selected frequency band and a second set of pilot symbols is sparsely placed surrounding and including the selected frequency band.
