    摘要: This disclosure relates to novel adhesive compositions and composite structures utilizing the same, wherein said adhesive compositions contain an elastomer, a chemically compatible ethylenically unsaturated monomer, a tackifier, an adhesion promoter, and optionally, pigments, fillers, thickeners and flow control agents which are converted from the liquid to the solid state by exposure to high energy ionizing radiation such as electron beam. A particularly useful application for such adhesive compositions comprises the assembly of certain composite structures or laminates consisting of, for example, a fiber flocked rubber sheet and a metal base with the adhesive fulfilling the multiple functions of adhering the flocked fiber to the rubber sheet as well as adhering the rubber sheet to the metal base. Optionally, the rubber sheet itself may also be cured at the same time as the adhesive composition with all operations being carried out at ambient temperatures and in the presence of air, with exposure of said assembly to selected dosages of high energy ionizing radiation. These adhesive compositions contain no solvents thereby almost eliminating air pollution or solvent toxicity problems, and offer substantial savings in energy and labor as they are capable of curing in very short time periods without the use of external heat which might damage the substrate.

    摘要: A body mount for a vehicle includes a rebound cushion assembly in which a first cushion portion provides a progressive rate buildup to provide travel rebound control and a second cushion portion prevents an upper cushion of the body mount from hitting against the vehicle frame. A clamp member partially encloses the first and second cushion portions. The portions are preferably inner and outer rings interconnected by a thin membrane that allows independent action. The first portion is an elongated member always in compression that has a minimal impact on the system rate and loaded height and the second ring comes into selective contact with the vehicle frame to prevent the upper cushion from being lifted from the vehicle frame.

    摘要: A self-tapping fastener or fastening peg secures a weatherseal to a mounting surface of an automotive vehicle. A pointed, conical nose pierces the weatherseal to form an opening. In the preferred embodiment, the fastening peg is rotated at a first velocity as it is axially advanced toward the weatherseal to create an opening. The fastening peg is further axially advanced and rotated at a second velocity to advance a first flange through the pierced opening, thereby securing the fastening peg to the weatherseal. The weatherseal is then secured to a vehicle mounting surface by advancing a locking assembly through a pre-formed opening in the mounting surface.

    摘要: A rebound cushion for a body mount is disclosed. The rebound cushion includes an outer cushion formed from an elastomeric material having a first durometer. The rebound cushion also includes an inner cushion formed from an elastomeric material having a second durometer, wherein the first durometer of the outer cushion is higher than the second durometer of the inner cushion. A clamp disk maintains the inner cushion in contact with the outer cushion. The outer cushion may include an annular lip for retaining the clamp disk. The separate inner cushion allows a vertical cushioning rate defined by the inner cushion to be designed and/or tuned independently from the lateral cushioning rate.

Each section of the glass run includes a flexible metal insert that has been stamped and rolled into a configuration such that a cross-section of the insert includes two adjacent U-shaped portions and a tab portion. An outer layer is extruded around the shape of the insert. The outer layer defines a glass run channel that accepts a vehicle window and a sealing configuration. Plastic support members are molded to the sections that extend into the door well. A bracket attached to or integral with the glass run allows the glass run to be connected to a trim panel within the door well.

    摘要: A locating and fastening protrusion extending from a back surface of a vehicle trim strip or molding strip being integrally formed with thermoplastic material of the molding strip. The protrusion is formed by applying a hollow heated die cavity against the thermoplastic back surface of the molding strip. The heated die cavity causes the thermoplastic material to melt and as the die cavity is applied against the molding member, the melted thermoplastic material is forced into the die cavity. The die cavity is then cooled such that the material within the die cavity solidifies. The die cavity is removed such that an integral protrusion is left extending from the molding member.
