Abstract:
A transmitter of a platform is arranged to generate a transmission pulse, which is transmitted to a receiver of another platform and is also arranged to couple its transmission pulse to a digital receiver associated with its platform via an attenuator and a coupler. Another platform performs a similar task. Each digital receiver determines the time separation between its transmission pulse and a received pulse from the other platform. The determined time separation information is shared with the other platform, and each digital receiver then determines a time offset between the time at its platform and the other platform.
Abstract:
An auto injector including: a housing; an outlet portion with a needle (110) moveable relative to the housing; a container (104) within the housing for containing medicament; and an actuatable deployment mechanism configured to deploy the outlet portion by moving the outlet portion relative to the housing and to eject medicament contained in the container through the outlet portion. The auto injector is configured to store a volume of fluid and includes a filling mechanism configured to expel the volume of fluid from the outlet portion and subsequently to draw medicament through the outlet portion and into the container. An adaptor (112) fits to the auto injector so as to cover the needle and includes a puncture member configured to puncture a vial, the puncture member providing fluid communication to the needle. The auto injector and adaptor are provided as part of an auto injector pack together with a vial containing a substance which in combination with the liquid forms the medicament and a casing configured to house the vial, the auto injector and the adaptor

Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are disclosed for combining advertising messages with short message service (SMS) messages in a wireless communications system. A signaling message processing and routing node transmits and receives short message service (SMS) data packets via a communications network. The routing node includes an SMS message processing module that determines whether an SMS message should be modified to include advertisements. SMS messages, whether modified or left unmodified, are forwarded to a destination mobile communications device. The SMS message processing module applies rules to match selected advertisements with the SMS message. The determination of whether to modify the SMS message to include a selected advertisement is based on a variety of considerations including: the content and format of the SMS message; the content and format of the advertisements; the communications and display characteristics of the destination mobile communications device; and the limitations of the channel used to communicate the message to the destination mobile communications device.
Abstract:
Compositions and methods for decontaminating surfaces are disclosed. More specifically, compositions and methods for decontamination using a composition capable of generating a long lasting foam. Compositions may include a surfactant and gelatin and have a pH of less than about 6. Such compositions may further include affinity shifting chemicals. Methods may include decontaminating a contaminated surface with a composition or a foam that may include a surfactant and gelatin and have a pH of less than about 6.

Abstract:
The present invention discloses a portable, collapsible clipboard which may be mounted to a vehicle steering wheel by means of an elastic strap or removed and carried by means of a provided shoulder strap. The clipboard is comprised of two writing portions that are hingedly connected so that the clipboard can be folded in half or expanded to provide a larger writing surface. A latch is provided to keep the clipboard securely folded.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for identifying mutations and/or polymorphisms that are major determinants of a selected phenotype and is based on the identification of haplotypes and the partitioning thereof into groups that are major determinants for said phenotype.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to naturally-occuring growth hormone mutations; to a method for detecting them and their use in screening patients for growth hormone irregularities or for producing variant proteins suitable for treating such irregularities. In one aspect there is disclosed a detection method for detecting a variation in GH1 effective to act as an indicator of GH dysfunction in an individual, which detection method comprises the steps of: (a) obtaining a test sample comprising a nucleotide sequence of the human GH1 gene from the individual; and (b) comparing the sequence obtained from the test sample with the standard sequence known to be that of the human GH1 gene, wherein a difference between the test sample sequence and the standard sequence indicates the presence of a variation (hereinafter “variant of GH1”) effective to act as an indicator of GH1 dysfunction characterised in that the test sample is obtained from an individual, either or both: exhibiting intra-uterine growth retardation (IUGR), defined as sufficient foetal height velocity diagnosed by standard methods known in the art; and/or small for gestational age (SGA), defined as insufficient (small) foetal body size (weight and/or length) for gestional age diagnosed by standard methods known in the art.
