Abstract:
A processed (e.g., captured) video sequence is temporally, spatially, and/or histogram registered to the corresponding original video sequence by generating, for each set of one or more processed frames, a mapping from a selected set of one or more original frames to the processed set, wherein (1) each selected set depends on the selected set corresponding to a previous processed set, (2) each mapping minimizes a local prediction error between the original set and the corresponding processed set, and (3) the accumulated prediction error for the entire processed video sequence is minimized.
Abstract:
A bathroom ventilating device includes one or more air inlet openings formed in a ceiling of a bathroom for introducing an air into the bathroom, and an air evacuating device disposed on a floor of the bathroom for evacuating odour and moisture from the bathroom. An air drawing device is attached to the ceiling of the bathroom and includes a fan aligned with the air inlet opening of the ceiling for drawing the air into the bathroom for effectively circulating and drawing the air out of the bathroom and for effectively circulating and introducing the fresh air into the bathroom and for effectively removing the odour and the moisture from the bathroom.
Abstract:
A valve device includes a metal tube fixed to a tire rim of a vehicle. A valve is mounted in an end of an air passageway of the metal tube. A transmitter includes two switches respectively connected to two contact members fixed on the metal tube. A Bourdon tube includes a fixed end in communication with the air passageway of the metal tube and a movable end. When a tire pressure of the tire is in a normal range, the movable end of the Bourdon tube is between the contact members, leading to an open circuit. When the tire pressure is too high or too low, the movable end of the Bourdon tube is in contact with one of the contact members. One of the switches is turned on to activate the transmitter to send a signal for reminding the driver of the abnormal tire pressure.
Abstract:
A composition for preventing and treating cardiovascular disorders is disclosed. The composition includes the lactoferrin and a trivalent chromium compound. The trivalent chromium compound of the present invention is selected from a group consisting of chromium (III) chloride hexahydrate, chromium (III) chloride, chromium (III) acetate, chromium (III) sulfate, chromium picolinate, chromium nicotinate, inorganic salts of trivalent chromium, organic salts of trivalent chromium, and combinations thereof. The present invention also discloses a method for preventing and treating cardiovascular disease of an acceptor.
Abstract:
There is provided a powder formulation for nasal delivery including a protein having a molecular weight of 10 kDa or greater and chitosan or a derivative thereof or a salt of chitosan or a salt of a derivative of chitosan. Preferably the protein is human growth hormone.
Abstract:
An annular window-shaped structuring element is provided for image processing to remove speckles from a scanned image. The window-shaped structuring element is composed of two differently sized squares sharing the same geometric center-point. The pixel to be analyzed with the structuring element is at the center-point. The structuring element is used in a method to remove speckles from binary, grayscale, and/or color images by first eroding the image, detecting speckles relative to other pixels in the image, and removing declared speckles. The method may additionally include a halftoning module to protect halftone images.
Abstract:
A method of image compression includes digitizing an image and segmenting the image in a plurality of different manners to generate a plurality of segmented images. Each of the segmented images is compressed. The method further includes determining a bit rate for each of the compressed images, and determining how much image distortion results from each compression, Finally, the manner of segmentation which results in an optimal compromise between the rate and distortion is selected.
Abstract:
A method for segmenting an image using a background-based segmentation process is provided. A document image (102) is low-pass filtered and decimated. The decimated image is processed at low resolution by a low-resolution segmentation (104) stage. Segmentation results include identification of a main background and one or more objects. Objects that cannot be classified in text or picture classes are further segmented into a local background and smaller objects. This process is reiterated until all objects are classified in text or picture classes. The results are overlaid on the image (102) during an original-resolution refinement (106) stage to refine the segmentation.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for reducing the number of Intra-coded pictures (I-Picture) without any quality degradation. In one embodiment, the method takes advantage of characteristics of a heterogeneous network, such as Digital Subscription Line (DSL).
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for reconstructing digital video is provided. In one embodiment, a method for transmitting an original video stream including at least one frame includes segmenting the frame into a plurality of regions, encoding each region in accordance with one of a plurality of available interpolation algorithms that provides minimal distortion the region, and providing a signal containing information that enables a decoder to identify the interpolation algorithms corresponding to each of the regions. This information enables a decoder to enhance a base layer video stream while minimizing the amount of information that must be provided to the decoder in order to perform the enhancement.
