A motion object detection method using an adaptive background model and a computer-readable storage medium are provided. In the motion object detection method, a background model establishing step is firstly performed to establish a background model to provide a plurality of background brightness reference values. Then, a foreground object detecting step is performed to use the background model to detect foreground objects. In the background model establishing step, a plurality of brightness weight values are firstly provided in accordance with the brightness of background pixels, wherein each of the brightness weight values is determined in accordance with the relative background pixel. Thereafter, the background brightness reference values are calculated based on the brightness of the background pixels and the brightness weight values. In addition, a computer can perform the motion object detection method after reading the computer-readable storage medium.

A defect detection apparatus according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes an induced current applier, a magneto-electric converter, a signal processor, a signal converter, and a data processor. The induced current applier applies a line or surface current to an object that is to be measured by using an alternating current (AC) having a frequency varying depending on a depth to be measured. The magneto-electric converter senses a magnetic field generated from the object by the Hn e or surface current and generates a magnetic field sensing signal corresponding to a strength of the sensed magnetic field. The signal processor filters and amplifies the magnetic field sensing signal and outputs a signal corresponding to amplitude of the filtered and amplified signal. The signal converter converts the signal output from the signal processor into a digital signal. The data processor quantitatively converts an intensity of a magnetic field generated from the object into a numerical value based on the digital signal output from the signal converter.

A system and method for establishing protection routes in optical mesh networks. A protection protocol is provided that utilizes a destination-to-source communication channel to establish a source-to-destination protection route. The communication channel is established from the node detecting the failed link back towards the transmitting node. As the destination-to-source communication channel is being established back towards the source node, it concurrently directs the nodes along this path to perform switching functions to subsequently allow the information originally intended for transmission via the failed link to be switched to the alternate protection path. Various manners of ascertaining the protection routes are also provided, including predetermined and/or dynamically-generated protection paths established via the destination-to-source communication channel.
