    Abstract: A resistor has a structure including a resistor substrate that has paired electrodes and a resistive element formed on an insulating substrate, an insulating exterior material that covers at least the upper and the side surface of the resistor substrate, and harness electric wires that have one end parts connected to the respective electrodes, pass through the exterior material, and extend outside. The paired electrodes are formed on areas other than the end parts of the insulating substrate, and junctions of the end parts of the harness electric wires and the paired electrodes are at positions where creepage distance of insulation from the junctions to the bottom ends of the insulating substrate is a predetermined distance or longer. Such structure provides the resistor having a secured creepage distance of insulation between the conductor parts of the resistor and the metal case in which the resistor is installed.

    Abstract: A sensor element has a cross-sectional area that increases either uniformly or gradually from a positive (+) electrode side toward a negative (−) electrode side, thereby leading a hot spot, which attempts to move to the negative electrode side, to a lower resistance side. A position that is at nearly equal distances from paired electrodes formed on either end of the sensor element is set as a hot spot generating position, so as to avoid damage to the electrodes due to heat emitted by the hot spot.

    Abstract: In order to provide a hydrogen sensor for measuring a hydrogen concentration with high sensitivity and excellent mass-productivity, the hydrogen sensor includes: at least a first quartz vibrator and a second quartz vibrator formed in a quartz plate; a hydrogen reaction catalytic layer including a platinum film of platinum black formed on both sides of the first quartz vibrator; and a hydrogen non-reactive layer formed in the second quartz vibrator, wherein a hydrogen concentration is measured by measuring a temperature of the first quartz vibrator increasing by heat of combustion caused by oxidization of hydrogen by the hydrogen reaction catalytic layer as a change of a natural frequency of the first quartz vibrator with respect to a natural frequency of the second quartz vibrator.

    Abstract: The invention is to provide a resistor trimming method capable of adjusting a resistance value with ultrahigh precision and having excellent production efficiency. To achieve the object, a start point (S1) at a distance from a resistor (4) is irradiated with laser light while probes are brought into contact with a pair of surface electrodes (3) to measure a resistance value of the resistor (4). The place irradiated with the laser light is scanned so that a first trimming groove (5) extending in a direction perpendicular to a current direction can be formed in the resistor (4). Then, the place irradiated with the laser light is returned by a predetermined amount from an end point (first turning point (T1)) of the first trimming groove (5) to be set as a second turning point (T2). With the second turning point (T2) as a start point, scanning and cutting is performed to forma second trimming groove (6). Thus, the resistance value of the resistor (4) is adjusted to a target resistance value with high precision.

    Abstract: A power resistor has paired harness electric wires that have one end parts connected to a resistor substrate, and other end parts pass through an exterior material made of insulating resin and extend outward. Crimp terminals, which are means for reinforcing affinity between the coating material of the harness electric wires and the insulating resin, i.e., the exterior material and for maintaining adhesion, are formed on predetermined portions of the harness electric wires. As a result, a short and small power resistor suitable for an in-vehicle environment is provided.
