Abstract:
The present invention relates to a well type neutron counter containing a He-3 detector which includes at least one annular gas layer in a polyethylene moderator, which includes a body formed of a neutron moderator and having a sample cavity for inserting a sample of nuclear material therein; and an annular He-3 detector tube including at least one annular gas layer into which at least He-4 or He-3 gas or their mixture is injected and a plurality of anode rods stood in the annular gas layer with an equal spaces, wherein the He-3 detector tube is formed in an inside of the body so as to surround the sample cavity. The neutron counter has a largely reduced size, simplified structure and resultant decreased failure rate as compared to a conventional counter with a large volume.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an glucose uptake modulator, a pharmaceutical composition comprising the glucose uptake modulator, and a method of treating a diabetes or diabetic complications in a mammal in need thereof, which comprises administering to said mammal an effecting amount of a glucose uptake modulator.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an extract of Stewartia koreana and use thereof. More particularly, it relates to an extract of Stewartia koreana which is extracted with any one selected from the group consisting of water, a C1-4 low alcohol, a polar solvent, a non-polar solvent and a mixture thereof, and a pharmaceutical composition for promoting angiogenesis or tissue regeneration and a cosmetic for improving wrinkles comprising the same as an effective ingredient. The extract of Stewartia koreana according to the present invention promotes migration and multiplication of endothelial cell and shows excellent effect in angiogenesis and wound healing and thus, is useful in treatment or prevention of diseases which requires angiogenesis for healing of wounded and frostbitten region, wound healing after surgical operation, and treatment and prevention of gastric ulcer, ischaemic heart diseases and hair loss. Also, the extract shows the dermal tissue regenerating effect and thus, is useful as a cosmetic for improving wrinkles.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to method of regulating mammalian target-of-rapamycin (mTOR) based on a novel finding of a regulating mechanism of mTOR by a phospholipase D (PLD), and Ras homolog enriched in brain (Rheb). Further, the present invention also relates to a method of screening inhibitors of mTOR, and a method and a composition for treating mTOR-related metabolic diseases by inhibitin mTOR.
Abstract:
A method for providing a conversation dictionary service includes the steps of: (a) receiving a request for editing conversation expressions from a user; (b) providing the user with a format page for editing the expressions; (c) creating expression data by connecting the information inputted in a conversation entry window and a situation entry window with identification information on the user; and (d) recording the expression data in an expression database. The service can make a user edit conversation expressions and expanding the coverage of the conversation expressions, thereby providing more various examples reflecting the newly or uniquely used conversation expressions in a daily life.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method of using a computerized dictionary for building an electronic word list. The method can include accessing a computerized dictionary, opening an entry of the dictionary for a word, the entry comprising a listing of a plurality of descriptions of the word, selecting a first one of the plurality of descriptions, and causing to store the first description or a portion thereof in an electronic word list of a user.
Abstract:
Dual stress liners for CMOS applications are provided. The dual stress liners can be formed from silicon nitride having a first portion for inducing a first stress and a second portion for inducing a second stress. An interface between the first and second stress portions is self-aligned and co-planar. To produce a co-planar self-aligned interface, polishing, for example, mechanical chemical polishing is used.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a microwave oven. According to the present invention, a fixed heater 41 is installed on a ceiling of a cavity 31 of a microwave oven, and a pivotable heater 43 is installed to pivot upward and downward on its lower end in the cavity 31. When the pivotable heater 43 has been pivoted downward on its lower end, a grill 45 on which an object to be heated is seated is horizontally installed between a lower surface of the fixed heater 41 and an upper surface of the pivotable heater 43. A micro-switch 51, which will be pushed by the grill 45 and thus generate an actuating signal for pivoting the pivotable heater 43, is installed on a side surface of the cavity 31. According to the present invention, since the fixed and pivotable heaters 41 and 43 heat upper and lower surfaces of the object, respectively, and the pivotable heater 43 is pivoted according to whether the grill 45 is mounted or detached, it is possible to cook the object faster and more conveniently.
Abstract:
A method of controlling starting current of an adaptive spindle motor in consideration of maximum allowable consumption power and a disk drive using the method. The method includes measuring a supply voltage supplied to the disk drive, calculating a maximum current that can be supplied to the spindle motor in a range of maximum allowable power in correspondence to the supply voltage measured in the measuring of the supply voltage, and applying the calculated maximum current to the spindle motor to start the spindle motor.
Abstract:
An optical disk writing and reading apparatus and a method thereof is provided. The optical disk writing and reading apparatus has an optical pick-up for writing or reading data on an optical disk by using a laser light of a certain wavelength, an optical power calculation part for calculating an optical power of the laser light generated from the optical pick-up, and a micom operating the optical power calculation part by every certain time to detect the optical power of the laser light and adjusting the optical power of the laser light based on a preset optimum optical power to be optimized while writing the data on the optical disk.
