Abstract:
A bit error concealment (BEC) system and method is described herein that detects and conceals the presence of click-like artifacts in an audio signal caused by bit errors introduced during transmission of the audio signal within an audio communications system. A particular embodiment of the present invention utilizes a low-complexity design that introduces no added delay and that is particularly well-suited for applications such as Bluetooth® wireless audio devices which have low cost and low power dissipation requirements.
Abstract:
Disclosed are compounds represented by formulae I, II, and III, and the compositions and methods thereof for treating viral infections caused by a Flaviviridae family virus.
Abstract:
Disclosed are a system and method for exploiting information in an utterance for dialog act tagging. An exemplary method includes receiving a user utterance, computing at periodic intervals at least one parameter in the user utterance, quantizing the at least one parameter at each periodic interval, approximating conditional probabilities using an n-gram over a sliding window over the periodic intervals and tagging the utterance as a dialog act based on the approximated conditional probabilities.
Abstract:
Disclosed are tricyclic nucleoside compounds of formula (I), and methods thereof for treating viral infections mediated at least in part by a Flaviviridae family virus.
Abstract:
The invention relates to novel betulinic acid derivatives of formula (I), wherein R is C(═CH2) CH3 or CH(CH3)2; R2 together with the adjacent carbonyl group forms a carboxylic acid, carboxylic acid ester or amide or substituted amide; R3 or R4 are hydrogen or aryl with the proviso that both are not independently hydrogen or alkyl or R3 and R4 are combined together to form an aryl ring optionally substituted with a group X, wherein X is selected from halogen, alkyl, cyano, nitro, alkoxy, amino or substituted amine; Y is N or O; and R1 is zero when Y is O, and R1 is hydrogen, alkyl or aryl alkyl when Y is N, useful for inhibition of tumor cancer cells.
Abstract:
This invention is a method and apparatus for interpolation which enables simpler and cost efficient implementation in hardware or software. A function table stores values of the function at addresses corresponding to the argument points where the function is known. The input value enables identification of the function values for arguments immediately below and above the input value. Respective bits of the absolute value of the difference between these two function values enables corresponding gradient value tables. A set of gradient values are stored in these gradient value tables. The least significant bits of the input value, those bits less significant than the arguments of the stored function values, address entries in the enabled gradient value tables. The desired interpolation value is the sum of the first function value and the gradient value recalled from the gradient tables.
Abstract:
A raster image processing system which supports multiple rendering/screening approaches, and selects an optimal approach suited for the specific images to be generated. In an embodiment, images may be rendered using either back-end screening approach or pipelined screening approach. Several variables may be measured to determine which one of the two consumes minimal time for a specific image to be rendered, and the approach consuming minimal time is selected. Typically, back-end screening is selected when multiple overlapping objects are present, and pipelined screening is selected otherwise.

Abstract:
A system for operating a multiple media printing device includes a memory module that stores print control data that corresponds to a plurality of data storage formats, a media reader module that selects one of the plurality of data storage formats based on one of a plurality of files stored on an external media storage device, and a media format module that processes image data stored on the media storage device based on the print control data that corresponds to the selected data storage format.
Abstract:
A method for detecting accretion or abrasion on a first measuring tube of a flow measuring device. A first temperature as a function of time is registered via a first temperature sensor, which is arranged on the first measuring tube in such a manner that, between the first temperature sensor and the medium, at least one measuring tube wall of the first measuring tube is embodied. Parallel in time, a second reference temperature as a function of time is registered by a second temperature sensor, which is spaced from the first temperature sensor and thermally coupled to the medium. Therefrom, at least one variable characteristic is determined, and accretion or abrasion on the first measuring tube is detected, if the at least one determined characteristic variable or a variable derived therefrom deviates by more than a limit value from a predetermined reference variable.
