Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method including instantiating a virtual network function to provide a network resource in the network, accessing data usage information associated with facilitation of a service to a communication device via the network, determining whether the communication device exceeds a data limit threshold according the data usage information, accessing a data limit instruction associated with the communication device responsive to determining that the communication device exceeds the data limit threshold, determining a modification to the virtual network function associated with the facilitation of the service according to the data limit instruction, and communicating with the network to cause the modification to the virtual network function. An edge ANDSF component can rank access network resources. The rank can be based on characteristics of an access network resource, a user profile, device resource demands, or a user behavior model. The user profile can comprise information facilitating pre-authentication of a device to an access network resource. Further, the user profile can be considered portable with regard to localized aspects of edge ANDSF components. The user profile provides improved ANDSF feature performance.

Abstract: Based on electronic communication received from a wireless device or from an access point, it is determined that a wireless signal relay is needed between the wireless device and the access point. In response to the determination, a drone is deployed between the wireless device and the access point to relay wireless signals between the wireless device and the access point. The deployed drone measures a first strength of a first wireless signal received from the wireless device or measures a second strength of a second wireless signal received from the access point. Based on the measurements, it is determined that the wireless device has moved relative to the access point after the drone has been deployed. In response to the determining that the wireless device has moved, the location of the drone is adjusted to maintain the first strength or the second strength above a predetermined level.

Abstract: The concepts and technologies disclosed herein are directed to network functions virtualization (“NFV”) leveraging unified traffic management and real-world event planning. According to one aspect of the concepts and technologies disclosed herein, a virtual network traffic management system (“VNTMS”) can receive, via a traffic congestion monitor, from a virtual network function (“VNF”), a traffic congestion indicator that includes a traffic congestion state indicative of network traffic congestion experienced by the VNF. The VNTMS can analyze the traffic congestion indicator to determine a traffic management action to be taken to alleviate at least a portion of the network traffic congestion experienced by the VNF, and instruct a traffic congestion action responder to provide the traffic management action to the VNF.
