摘要: A method for manufacturing a gas sensor assembly characterized by including the use of a unitized annular sub-assembly having a plurality of separable terminal portions on it. Pursuant to the invention the terminal portions are pre-formed with holding apertures and electrically and mechanically joined, respectively, to the ends of a plurality of wires that are effective to support and heat elements of the sensor. The heater and support wires are then positioned within a ceramic housing to dispose each of the pre-formed terminals within indexing recesses formed in the housing walls. After the terminals are thus positioned they are individually clamped to the housing, then the annular portion of the terminal sub-assembly is separated from the terminals.

摘要: Compositions comprising surface-modified nanocalcite particles dispersed in a curable resin system comprising a vinyl ester, and coatings and fibrous composites incorporating such compositions are described. The surface-modifying agents include a binding group ionically associated with the calcite and a compatiblizing segment, compatible with the curable resin. The surface-modifying agent may also include a reactive group capable of reacting with the curable resin system. Methods of preparing nanocalcite composites and coating a fibrous composites prepared from such nanocalcite composites are also described.

摘要: A method of improving epoxy resin compositions to provide a cured resin having improved glass transition temperature and toughness characteristics is provided. The method includes providing in an epoxy resin composition an effective amount of a 9,9-bis(hydroxphenyl)fluorene composition. The fluorene component acts as a chain extension agent and provides for increased glass transition temperature and less cross-link density. As a result, improved toughness occurs. In preferred applications a toughening agent is provided in the resin composition, to further enhance toughness. Preferred resin compositions, cured resins and methods of providing improved cured resins are also provided.

摘要: Diglycidyl ethers of ortho-substituted-4-hydroxyphenylfluorenes, curable compositions comprising the diglycidyl ethers, and cured resins thereof have a high glass transition and an improved modulus of elasticity. The diglycidyl ethers of the invention for use in the curable composition of the invention can be mixtures obtained by the reaction of epihalohydrin with mixtures of fluorenebisphenols obtained by the reaction of one mole of one or more fluorenones with two or more moles or mixtures of two or more ortho-substituted phenols. The compositions are useful in molding and coating applications and in composite articles where the operating temperature of the article or material is elevated.

摘要: A building panel for exterior and interior wall and roof surface includes an elongated body formed of a relatively thin walled, molded hardboard material having upper and lower edges, opposite ends, an outer weather face adapted to resemble the profiles historical or traditional siding and shingle shapes and a back face generally contoured to match the outer surface. The body includes a lower edge portion extending upwardly and outwardly of the lower edge of the panel which joins an intermediate fascia portion spaced outwardly of the lower edge. An elongated fastener receiving strip is formed along an upper edge of the intermediate fascia portion and includes a plurality of longitudinally spaced apart fastener receiving depressions integrally molded therein. The strip has a machined back face and the machine cut intersects an outer face of the panel around the depressions thereby forming an open slot extending completely through the panel in each depression for receiving a fastener shank for securing the building panel on a building structure. An upper edge portion of the panel joins an upper edge of the fastener receiving strip and includes an upwardly and outwardly extending first segment adapted to underlie a lower edge portion of a panel laid up in a next higher course in a building wall structure. The upper edge portion also includes a second segment which extends between the first segment and the upper edge of the panel, generally parallel of the intermediate fascia portion and adapted to underlie a portion of the fascia portion of the panel laid up in the next higher course.

摘要: A reinforced bobbin which when wound with a sensing winding forms the armature of a D'Arsonval movement measuring instrument. The reinforced bobbin consists of a thin elongated open rectangular bobbin with detent holes centered along the axis of revolution of the bobbin in the measuring instrument. A nonmagnetic low density ball with a diameter slightly larger than the opening in the bobbin is locked in position inside the bobbin by the detent holes to prevent inward deformation of the bobbin when the measuring instrument is subject to rough handling.
