摘要: A guide system gives sight-seeing guidance for various sight-seeing objects located within a wide area without an interval of pause. The guide system includes guide data storage wherein guide data, for showing objects located along the travelled road, and for showing streets and other objects in the local area, is classified into types and stored. A guide information output section outputs guidance information pertaining to an object, located by search, having sight-seeing interest. A position detector detects and traces the current position. Further, the guide system has a plurality of search mechanisms, each of which searches only within a specific category of guide objects and only within an area defined at least in part by the current position, as identified by the current position detector. The guide system searches for and extracts information for an object from the guide data storage and outputs the information pertinent thereto. It is possible to limit each search to guide objects within a given classification and to search them in order of priority. The guide system extracts the highest priority object first by use of one or more of the search mechanisms and then extracts additional objects in the same order of priority and outputs guidance information therefor, to eliminate any interval of pause in which no guidance is output.

摘要: A guide system for a vehicle includes guide data storage containing guide data for conversion into output information concerning guidance objects along roads to be travelled by the vehicle and in the general area thereof. A TV monitor and microphone serve to output the information. A present position detector detects the present position which is traced on a map display output on the TV monitor. A first search routine searches over a first area range for guidance objects on the basis of the detected present position and a second search routine searches for guidance objects over a second area range different from the first area range. Once a guidance object is located, the guide data for that located guidance object is read out from the guide data storage and converted into output information. A manual key is provided on a remote controller for switching to the second search routine.

摘要: A navigation system has stored route information based upon longitude and latitude point coordinates for being retrieved and displayed to guide a user from a present position to a destination. The point coordinates of the destination are input to the navigation system by manual entry of the longitude and latitude point coordinates, by manual entry of a single multiple-digit alphanumeric code (G-code) containing combined longitude and latitude point coordinates, or by receipt of an external radio, optical, telephone or wire transmission of the longitude and latitude point coordinates from an information center or from a data storage medium such as a magnetic or electronic note card. The longitude and latitude point coordinates or the single multiple-digit alphanumeric code for manual entry can be read from a list of places or a map.

摘要: Bit map data stored in an image memory is read every one column by N lines or M columns by one line and is stored in a shift register of M bits by N bits. The data in the shift register is differentiated in the direction of the column direction by edge detectors and extracted as data representing only a contour portion. This contour data is classified into forms of discontinuous points with respect to the horizontal direction and the vertical direction by classifying circuits. As for the classified data, the size of a dot to be printed and a printing position are converted by a determining circuit to a pulse width and a timing at which the dot is to be generated, and the classified data is converted to a pulse width by a pulse-width modulating circuit and is outputted to a laser beam modulating device. As a result, a dot smaller than a normal dot is added in a vacant portion, or a part of a normal dot is shaved, thereby printing a smooth pattern.

摘要: A vehicle navigation system for orally issuing route guidance, capable of changing a point at which the route guidance is issued depending on the moving situation of a vehicle. The moving situation is at least one of a number of lanes in a road being traveled, a width of a crossroad intersecting the road being traveled and a speed of the vehicle. The moving situation is detected by a moving situation detector section and based on the detected moving situation, the route guidance issuing point is changed to the optimum point for the moving situation at that time by a guidance issuing point changer of a route guide controller.

摘要: Navigation data (26) are generated by performing course exploration up to a destination using path data (26), which include information relating to intersections and road information, in response to input of the destination. Course guidance to the destination is provided while present-position pursuit (37) is performed. Course guidance at an end-point of a present-position road is outputted using guidance information for travel to a destination at every intersection obtained from the road network data (26) by course exploration. At an intersection, a road in a direction of travel is recognized by the present-position pursuit means (37), present position on this road is kept track of and the end-point intersection of the road is recognized. Recognition of the travelling direction is performed at the end-point intersection of a road between intersections, and guidance to the next end-point intersection is outputted with the road in the travelling direction serving as a present-position road, whereby course guidance is performed repeatedly at every intersection up to the destination. In course exploration, a road in the direction of travel leading to the destination is set with regard to each intersection. Therefore, if an intersection and the road in the travelling direction thereof are recognized, it is possible to provide course guidance from the end-point intersection of the road in the travelling direction to the destination.

摘要: A vehicular navigation apparatus includes a distance sensor (1), a steering angle sensor (3), a curve detecting unit (9) provided with inputs of a distance signal and steering-angle signal for calculating a change in vehicle travelling direction by referring to a steering angle - travelling direction conversion table (17), a course exploration unit (13) provided with inputs of present position and destination for performing course exploration based on intersection data, road data and node data, a comparison-decision unit (11) for comparing retrieved course data and results of curve detection, and a guidance processor (15) for executing predetermined guidance processing based on the results of comparison. Thus, it is determined whether the vehicle has turned at a guidance intersection or node on a predetermined course and whether the vehicle is on the predetermined course. If the vehicle has made a correct turn, present position is calculated by performing a distance correction using intersection position data or node data. When it is determined that the vehicle is off course, the driver is so informed and instructions can be given for measures to be taken subsequently.

摘要: In a navigation system, during navigation between guidance intersections A and B, a next named intersection C is displayed along with the distance remaining until the named intersection B is reached. After the vehicle has entered the distance error correction range, illumination color of the display of the next named intersection C is changed into, for example, red. If a corresponding portion of the display screen is touched at the time of passage though the intersection, a distance error is corrected. The invention thus makes it possible to readily correct distance errors with accuracy. Even during navigation along a straight road, distance correction can be performed at specific intersections. The invention also makes it possible to track the present position with accuracy by increasing the frequency of distance error correction.

摘要: A navigation apparatus for navigating an automotive vehicle in accordance with a preset course while measuring distance travelled and steering angle is characterized by previously storing positions of charactering features along the course and guidance information relating to said characterizing features, correlating travelling distance and the positions of the characterizing features, and outputting guidance information relating to a particular characterizing feature on the condition that said characterizing feature has been approached. Guidance information relating to a particular characterizing feature is outputted when the vehicle has approached this characterizing feature. Thereof, by matching this guidance information with the circumstances along the course, the driver can verify during travel whether the course is correct or not. Accordingly, even if it is a long distance to the intersection at which the next turn is to be made, the driver is capable of verifying the course by the time this intersection is reached. this enables the driver to drive the vehicle without anxiety.
