    摘要: A continuous hot-rolling mill includes an upper rolling unit including a plurality of rolling stands, and a lower rolling unit including a plurality of rolling stands and disposed downstream with respect to the upper rolling unit in a workpiece passing direction in which a workpiece to be rolled is passed. The two or more rolling stands of the lower rolling unit are differential or very-small-diameter rolling stands. Each of the two or more differential or very-small-diameter rolling stands of the lower rolling unit is provided with a drive motor having a capacity greater than that of any one of drive motors included in the rolling stands disposed upstream the differential or very-small-diameter rolling stands. The continuous hot-rolling mill is suitable for producing hot-rolled, fine-grained steel sheets and is excellent in sheet passing abilities for preventing the steel sheet from meandering and for rolling the steel sheet in a desired shape.

    摘要: A lubricant pump seal for an outboard motor is provided. The lubricant pump seal comprises a first sealing body in an upper clearance formed between an upper through hole of a lubricant pump casing and a driveshaft extending through the upper through hole, a second sealing body in a lower clearance formed between a lower through hole of the lubricant pump casing and the driveshaft extending through the lower through hole, a third sealing body in the lower clearance below the second sealing body, and a fourth sealing body in the lower clearance between the second and third sealing bodies. Preferably, the lubricant pump seal further comprises a fluid communication passage between a space in the lower clearance and a lubricant reservoir or interior space of a cowling. When negative pressure is generated in the space during operation of the lubricant pump, fluid flows through the passage and into the space, thereby eliminating the negative pressure and preventing moisture from penetrating the space.

    摘要: A fuel supply for an internal combustion engine includes an improved construction for inhibiting vapor from appearing in the fuel supplied to the engine's combustion chamber(s). A fuel injector, as one of fuel supply devices, is provided for supplying fuel to the combustion chamber of the engine. There are a first and second fuel reservoirs. The first fuel reservoir stores fuel and delivers it to the second fuel reservoir through a first fuel supply conduit, while the second fuel reservoir temporarily store the fuel and delivers it to the fuel injector through a second fuel supply conduit. The excess fuel is returned to the second fuel reservoir from the fuel injector through a fuel return conduit. The fuel supply includes a fuel cooling device for cooling the fuel passing through at least one of the conduits. The construction of the fuel supply and the fuel cooling device permits them to be located with the tight confines between the engine and a protective enclosure (e.g., a cowling of an outboard motor).

    摘要: An oil pump for a lubricating system of an outboard motor is disclosed. The motor has a cowling defining an engine compartment, a water propulsion device, and a guide member having an upper surface and a lower surface, the guide member positioned in the cowling and generally dividing the engine compartment into an upper part and a lower part. An engine is positioned in the upper part of the engine compartment within the cowling and has an output shaft arranged to drive the water propulsion device. The lubricating system includes an oil pan positioned below the guide member and an oil passage leading from the pan through the guide member. The oil pump is positioned in the upper part of the engine compartment, but below the engine, and is driven by a lower end of the output shaft of the engine which extends below the engine, the oil pump having an oil inlet in communication with the oil passage through the guide member.

The cooling system includes a coolant delivery mechanism driven by the engine, the delivery mechanism arranged to deliver coolant selectively to at least one of two coolant jackets of the engine. One coolant jacket is associated with at least one combustion chamber of the engine. The other cooling jacket is associated with an exhaust manifold for that combustion chamber. The cooling system also includes at least one coolant drain line through which coolant may drain from each of the cooling jackets of the engine.

    摘要: A system for controlling coolant flow in an engine includes a housing where coolant from a radiator and a bypass passage are mixed, the housing enclosing: a water pump having an impeller, a heat responding element downstream from the impeller and having a piston that extends when a temperature is above a predetermined amount, a linkage connected to the piston, and a valve upstream from the impeller and connected to the linkage so extension of the piston causes the valve to open so radiator coolant flows. A bypass valve also upstream from the impeller is connected to the linkage so extension of the piston causes adjustment of opening of the bypass valve, coolant from the bypass passage flowing when the bypass valve is open. The two valves are ganged so total flow is kept constant. A thermistor accelerates the action of the piston by quickly heating the element.

    摘要: A number of embodiments of outboard motor that are comprised of a power head consisting of a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine and a surrounding protective cowling. Each embodiment also includes a drive shaft housing and lower unit, the latter of which contains a propulsion device for propelling an associated watercraft. The engines are mounted within the protective cowling so their crankshafts rotate about vertically extending axes. In each case the crankshaft is coupled to a drive shaft that depends into the drive shaft housing and lower unit for driving the propulsion device. A flywheel is affixed to the upper end of the crankshaft. A first accessory drive is affixed to the crankshaft below the flywheel for driving at least one engine accessory. The engine accessory is mounted at an upper end of the engine and at least in part within the outer peripheral surface of the flywheel in top plan view. Various alternative locations for the components of the engine including specifically an alternator and a starter motor are disclosed.
