摘要： An oil pump for a lubricating system of an outboard motor is disclosed. The motor has a cowling defining an engine compartment, a water propulsion device, and a guide member having an upper surface and a lower surface, the guide member positioned in the cowling and generally dividing the engine compartment into an upper part and a lower part. An engine is positioned in the upper part of the engine compartment within the cowling and has an output shaft arranged to drive the water propulsion device. The lubricating system includes an oil pan positioned below the guide member and an oil passage leading from the pan through the guide member. The oil pump is positioned in the upper part of the engine compartment, but below the engine, and is driven by a lower end of the output shaft of the engine which extends below the engine, the oil pump having an oil inlet in communication with the oil passage through the guide member.

摘要： An induction system for an outboard motor of the type having a water propulsion device powered by an internal combustion engine positioned within an engine compartment defined by a cowling, is disclosed. The induction system includes a cover extending over a top end of the engine. The cover defines an air duct leading from an intake chamber defined by the cowling to an intake pipe of the air intake system of the engine. The cover also defines an air duct in communication with the engine compartment and leading to an exhaust chamber defined by the cowling. A pair of intake ports lead through a cover of the cowling from the intake chamber, and an exhaust port leads through the cover from the exhaust chamber. The intake ports are positioned forward of the exhaust port when considering the forward movement of a watercraft which is powered by the motor.

摘要： Two embodiments of outboard motor constructions that employ an improved mounting arrangement for certain electrical components such as ECUs and rectifier regulator units. The mounting arrangement places these components in proximity to the intake system for the engine so that the flow of intake air to the engine will assist in cooling the electrical components. A shrouding arrangement is also provided so as to protect the components from water vapor while not inhibiting the cooling air flow.

摘要： A fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine of the type utilized to power an outboard motor of a watercraft is disclosed. The engine is oriented with its crankshaft vertically extending, such that the engine has a top and a bottom, a first end and a second end, and a side between the ends. An air delivery passage extends generally from the first end along said side to an intake passage leading through the engine to a combustion chamber therein. A fuel injector is positioned along the side of the engine and arranged to deliver fuel into air flowing through the passage. In one arrangement, the fuel injector is connected to an intake manifold defining at least a part of the air delivery passage and is adapted to deliver fuel opposite the flow of air through the passage at the point of delivery. In a second embodiment, the fuel injector is positioned between the air delivery passage and the side of the engine. In this embodiment, the fuel injector is preferably arranged to deliver fuel perpendicular to the flow of air through the passage.
