Method, apparatus, and computer program product embodiments improve power saving in mobile devices. A mobile device includes a controller with a central processing unit and a programmed memory. In its unused state, the controller maintains a sleep mode with the central processing unit off and peripherals off, such as for a flat screen display. The mobile device also includes a passive near-field transponder with an EEPROM storage device. The near-field transponder is activated by a continuous radio frequency signal from a proximate near-field reader. The near-field transponder can receive data from the near-field reader, which the transponder can write into the EEPROM. The mobile device also includes an activation coil energized by the continuous radio frequency signal from the proximate near-field reader and signals the controller when so energized. When the activation coil is energized by the continuous radio frequency signal from the proximate near-field reader, it energizes the controller, turning it on. The controller then reads the received data from the transponder's EEPROM and checks the validity of the received data to be sure that it is not the result of a spurious signal received by the near-field transponder. If the received data is determined to be valid, then the energized controller energizes the peripherals and the CPU and transfers the received data to the CPU. When the activation coil is no longer energized by a proximate near-field reader, the controller then returns to the sleep mode with the central processing unit off. In this manner, power saving in mobile devices is improved.

The method includes obtaining and storing at least two characteristic spectral lines at a predetermined pulse repetition frequency. The method further includes optimizing at least one of the Doppler imaging parameters based on the stored at least two characteristic spectral lines and a predetermined mean noise power. In one embodiment, the characteristic spectral lines are obtained by collecting in real time the Doppler spectral lines generated at the predetermined pulse repetition frequency within a predetermined time period, and processing the collected Doppler spectral lines in real time without storing them.

A tunable PLC optical filter having sequentially connected thermally tunable Mach-Zehnder (MZ) interferometers is described. The cascade of MZ interferometers, each having a free spectral ranges matching ITU frequency grid spacing, are tuned so as to have a common passband centered on the frequency of the signal being selected, while having at least one of the stopbands centered on any other ITU frequency. Any other optical channel that may be present at any other ITU frequency is suppressed as a result. Another MZ interferometer in series with the cascade of interferometers including an asymmetric or variable coupler, is tuned to have low transmission at the center frequency of the selected optical channel.

The present invention relates to a method for the modification of calcium carbonate fillers to improve their acid-tolerant property and to make their effective use in papermaking of high-lignin-content deinked pulp derived from recycled newspaper. It has been found that modification of calcium carbonate fillers using the combination of a calcium salt with a weak acid can improve the acid-tolerant property of the fillers, and the optical properties of the filled paper, such as brightness, can also be effectively improved.

To account for this antenna port deactivation, the base station may send a CSI report configuration to a UE including one or more measurement resource sets associated with the power savings mode. The UE may obtain the CSI report configuration and send a CSI report to the base station in response to a CSI measurement in the one or more measurement resource sets.
