摘要: The invention provides methods of forming a cholesteric liquid crystal layer that include forming a cholesteric liquid crystal composition, depositing the cholesteric liquid crystal composition onto a substrate, and initially drying the cholesteric liquid crystal composition at a temperature at or below about 90° C. so that the cholesteric liquid crystal composition has at least 80% solids remaining. The invention also provides methods of forming a cholesteric liquid crystal layer that include forming a cholesteric liquid crystal composition, depositing the cholesteric liquid crystal composition onto a substrate, and initially drying the cholesteric liquid crystal composition at a temperature at or below about 90° C., wherein the drying is accomplished using a technique that provides little or no airflow. The invention further provides a cholesteric liquid crystal composition that includes at least one cholesteric liquid crystal precursor and 1,3-dioxolane.

摘要: Composition for removing coatings from surfaces consisting essentially of at least one dibasic ester, water, and at least one thickening agent. The composition contains sufficient water and thickening agent to allow it to wet out and adhere to vertical surfaces for a sufficiently long period to insure that the dibasic ester component will have sufficient duration of contact with the coating to allow easy removal of same.

摘要: An optical construction comprises an optically transmissive first layer having a first and second major surfaces, and an optically transmissive second layer adjacent the first major surface and defining an interface. The optically transmissive second layer comprises a binder and optical beads. The binder comprises from 55 to 99.9 percent by weight of polyethylene oxide segments. A weight ratio of the binder to the optical beads is in a range of from 44:56 to 50:50. A light source is disposed in a fixed orientation relative to the optically transmissive second layer. Methods of making optical constructions, and electronic devices containing them, are also disclosed.
