Abstract: A cellular multiple-input and multiple-output, MIMO, system comprises a base station having a plurality of antennas. Pilot signals are received by the base station in each frame of a sequence of frames (60). The base station analyzes the pilot signals to determine radio channel properties of radio channels between respectively each one of a plurality of terminals and the base station. The sequence of frames (60) comprises frames of a first frame type (61, 63, 64, 68) and frames of a second frame type (62, 69). Each frame of the second frame type (62, 69) have a greater number of time slots in which the base station receives the pilot signals than each frame of the first frame type (61, 63, 64, 68). The frames of the second frame type (62, 69) are included periodically in the sequence of frames (60).

The controller is configured to select, from the one or more candidate carriers, one or more component carriers for use in transmitting signals to the communications devices within the second frequency range to form a downlink providing a secondary cell, based on the received channel state reports, and to transmit an indication identifying the selected one or more component carriers to the one or more communications devices for use in transmitting signals to the one or more communications devices via the frequency range.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for operating a terminal device configured to establish a data communication upon receiving a request for establishing the data communication from a base station of a telecommunication network. According to the method, a usage state of the terminal device is determined. The usage state indicates a current usage of at least one function or application of the terminal device. Depending on the determined usage state a data traffic inactivity signal is sent to the base station. Abstract: A node (100) of a cellular network selects a first modulation scheme setting for a first radio link to a first device (10′). The first modulation scheme setting is selected from a set of modulation scheme settings, each identified by at least one corresponding index. On the basis of a mapping of each of the indices to a corresponding set of transmission parameters, the node (100) identifies a first set of link parameters mapped to the index corresponding to the selected first modulation scheme setting. The node (100) then configures the first radio link according to the identified first set of link parameters. Further, the node (100) selects a second modulation scheme setting for a second radio link to a second device (10).
