Abstract:
A packet transmission/reception apparatus and method is provided. The packet transmission method of the present invention includes acquiring a source payload including partial source symbols from a source block, generating a source packet including the source payload and an identifier (ID) of the source payload, generating a repair packet including a repair payload corresponding to the source payload and an ID of the repair payload, generating a Forward Error Correction (FEC) packet block including the source and repair packets, and transmitting the FEC packet block. The source payload ID includes a source payload sequence number incrementing by 1 per source packet. The packet transmission/reception method of the present invention is advantageous in improving error correction capability and network resource utilization efficiency.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses are provided for reducing a Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) in a digital broadcasting system. Reserved tones are determined in previously determined locations of sub-carriers that do not collide with a pilot signal of a preamble in a frame. A signal is transmitted through the reserved tones in a period for which the preamble is transmitted. If a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) size is 8K, locations of the reserved tones are determined in accordance with a specified chart.

A method and an apparatus for transmitting and receiving a packet in a broadcasting and communication system are provided. The method includes splitting a source packet block including source packets into a plurality of source packet subblocks, converting the source packet subblocks to source symbol subblocks, respectively, generating a plurality of first repair symbol blocks by encoding the source packet subblocks using a first error correction code, configuring an error correction source packet by adding a source error correction payload IDentifier (ID) to source symbols included in the source symbol subblocks and configuring an error correction repair packet by adding a repair error correction payload ID to repair symbols included in the first repair symbol subblocks, and transmitting the error correction source packet and the error correction repair packet.

An apparatus and method to detect coordinates in a pen-based display device are provided. In the apparatus, when an electronic pen is placed at a specific position on a display, an image of a pixel group corresponding to the specific position is captured through a camera provided in the electronic pen, a reference point is detected in the pixel group by processing the captured image of the pixel group, an area type of the captured image is determined based on the reference point, values of a coordinate indications corresponding to the position of the pixel group are determined, selectively correcting the determined values of the coordinate indications according to the determined area type to determine final values of the coordinate indications, and applying a predetermined coordinates calculation rule to the determined final values of the coordinate indications to determine final coordinates of the electronic pen.

A method and apparatus for receiving control information in a digital broadcasting/communication system. The method includes receiving signaling information having a fixed number of bits in a coded block of a received frame; and decoding signaling information having a variable number of bits in at least one coded block of the received frame, using the signaling information having the fixed number of bits. The signaling information having the fixed number of bits includes information about a number of Radio Frequency (RF) channels, and the signaling information having the variable number of bits includes information representing a frequency for each of the RF channels, respectively.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for transmitting and receiving packets in a broadcasting system are provided. The present disclosure allocates a padding size field by using padding octets, and thus can increase transmission efficiency. Also, the present disclosure does not restrict the number of padding octets while maintaining compatibility with existing disclosures, and thus can carry out as much padding as desired and as necessary. In addition, the present disclosure variably allocates the padding size field depending on the number P of padding octets, and thus can increase header efficiency. Furthermore, since the number of padded octets in a header is immediately known, the size of an actual payload is known in advance, and thus rapid transmission is possible.

An apparatus and method are provided for transmitting and receiving a quasi-cyclic Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) code in a multimedia communication system. In the method, a signal transmission apparatus generates a quasi-cyclic LDPC code, and transmits the quasi-cyclic LDPC code to a signal reception apparatus. The quasi-cyclic LDPC code is generated by encoding an information word vector using a child parity check matrix, generated by performing one of a scaling operation, a row separation operation, and a row merge operation on a parent parity check matrix. In the scaling operation, a size of the child parity check matrix is determined. In the row separation operation, each of rows included in the parent parity check matrix is separated. In the row merge operation, the rows included in the parent parity check matrix are merged.

This disclosure relates to a 5G or pre-5G communication system for supporting a higher data transfer rate than a 4G communication system such as LTE. The present invention relates to a method for encoding and decoding a channel in a communication or broadcasting system, comprising the steps of determining an input bit size (CBS), determining a code rate (R), determining a size (Z) of a block, comparing the determined CBS and code rate with predetermined reference values, determining an LDPC sequence to perform LDPC encoding according to the comparison result, and performing LDPC encoding and decoding on the basis of the LDPC sequence and the block size. Further, the present invention comprises the steps of determining a code rate (R) indicated by a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) index, determining a transport block size, and determining either a first basic matrix or a second basic matrix as a basic matrix on the basis of the transport block size and the code rate.

A channel encoding method in a communication or broadcasting system is provided. The channel encoding method includes reading a first sequence corresponding to a parity check matrix, converting the first sequence to a second sequence by applying a certain rule to a block size corresponding to a parity check matrix and the first sequence, and encoding information bits based on the second sequence. The block size has at least two different integer values.
