Abstract:
A hydraulic pressure assisting device includes a power piston slidably accommodated in a housing, an input member movable relative to the power piston in response to operation of a brake member, and an auxiliary hydraulic pressure source that increases brake fluid in a reservoir to a predetermined pressure and outputs power hydraulic pressure. A pressure modulator connected to the auxiliary hydraulic pressure source and the reservoir modulates power hydraulic pressure outputted from the auxiliary hydraulic pressure source to a predetermined pressure corresponding to movement of the input member relative to the power piston and supplies modulated power hydraulic pressure to a power chamber in the power piston. A cylindrical elastic member has one end portion connected to the input member or power piston and another end portion connected to the housing, with a space being defined in the elastic member connected to the pressure modulator and the reservoir.

Abstract:
The invention is directed to a hydraulic brake apparatus which includes a master cylinder having a cylinder body and a master piston slidably disposed therein for defining a pressure chamber ahead of the master piston and a power chamber behind the master piston. A control piston is slidably disposed in the cylinder body ahead of the master piston for defining the pressure chamber behind the control piston. The control piston is moved in response to movement of the master piston. An auxiliary pressure source is provided for pressurizing brake fluid to generate a power pressure. A valve assembly is communicated with the auxiliary pressure source to regulate the power pressure into a regulated pressure in response to movement of the control piston, and adapted to supply the regulated pressure into the power chamber to assist the operation of a brake pedal. And, a pressure decreasing device which is activated in response to operation of the brake pedal is provided for decreasing the pressure in the power chamber irrespective of the pressure in the pressure chamber when the brake pedal is released. For example, the pressure decreasing device is disposed in the master piston for communicating the power chamber with the reservoir or blocking the communication between the power chamber and the reservoir in accordance with a position of the master piston in the cylinder body.

An automatic paper feeder of a document input device includes a pick roller 20, separator pads 68 that come into contact with the pick roller 20, a first pair of pick springs 58, and a second pick spring 60. The first pick springs 58 are disposed on the upstream side of the second pick spring 60 in the direction of conveying the paper. The first pick springs 58 are disposed on the regions on both outer sides of the width of the separator pads 68 in the axial direction of the roller, and the second pick spring 60 is disposed at a central position in the width of the separator pad 68. The first and second pick springs 58 and 60 are integrally formed as a spring unit using a single metal plate, and a force of contact of the first pick springs 58 upon the pick roller 20 on the upstream side is smaller than a force of contact of the second pick spring 60 upon the pick roller 20 on the downstream side. The separator pad 68 is formed by branching a web 70 of a rubber sheet into fork-like pad units. The spring unit and the pad units are supported together by a bracket 76 and a holder member 78.

Abstract:
A hydraulic braking system includes a master cylinder having a bore with an opening and a closed wall at opposite ends. At least one piston is slidably fitted in the bore and operatively connected to a brake pedal and at least one pressure chamber is defined in the bore by the piston and in communication with wheel cylinders of the vehicle. A normally open valve is associated with the piston so as to close a passage communicating between a reservoir and the pressure chamber when the piston is moved in response to the depression of the brake pedal. A hydraulic booster actuates the master cylinder in response to depression of the brake pedal, and an interrupting device interrupts the communication between the pressure chamber and the reservoir before the normally open valve closes the passage means and is interposed between the pressure chamber and the reservoir. Thereby, the idle stroke of previous master cylinders is eliminated. As a result, the initial stroke of the brake pedal is reduced and a light brake actuation feel is obtained.
