摘要: Electronic writing systems and methods are described. In one aspect, an electronic writing system includes an elongated housing, an inertial sensor, an optical sensor, and a tracking module. The elongated housing has an optical input. The inertial sensor is attached to the housing and is operable to generate data indicative of movement of the housing relative to an inertial reference frame. The optical sensor is attached to the housing and is operable to generate data from light received through the optical input. The tracking module is operable to compute relative displacement data from inertial movement data corresponding to data generated by the inertial sensor. The tracking module also is operable to detect at least one calibrated position from calibration data encoded in optical data generated from light received by the optical sensor.

摘要: The invention provides for compositions, e.g., pharmaceutical compositions, comprising a T lymphocyte, or a population thereof, expressing at least one recombinant polynucleotide encoding a cytokine that enhances T lymphocyte survival during the contraction phase of an immune response. The invention further provides an isolated T lymphocyte, or population thereof, expressing at least one recombinant polynucleotide encoding the cytokine, wherein the polynucleotide comprises a non-native coding sequence encoding the cytokine. Also provided is the use of such compositions and T lymphocytes, or populations thereof, for the treatment or prevention of a medical condition e.g., cancer. A method of preparing the a T lymphocyte with enhanced T cell survival is further provided herein.

摘要: Novel peptides that are capable of binding to uPAR and inhibiting the binding of an integrin and vitronectin are described. Also provided are nucleic acid sequences encoding the novel peptides. Methods for screening for small molecules, other peptides, or peptoids that mimic the antagonistic function of the peptides of the invention are described. The invention has applications in design of therapeutics for treating disorders characterized by upregulation of uPA and uPAR, and cancer and chronic inflammation, cell migration or uPAR: integrin binding interactions, and diagnostical applications to such disorders.

摘要: Apparatus and methods of printing on an electrically writable medium are disclosed. In one aspect, a printer for printing on an electrically writable medium includes a print head and a biasing system. The print head has multiple solenoid-actuated print wires that are operable to reciprocate toward and away from the medium. The biasing system is coupled to the print head and is operable to apply through print wires extended toward the medium an electric field greater than a threshold electric field needed to reorient switchable display elements in a localized region of the medium.

摘要: A process for making a low molecular weight cellulose ether has the following steps: a) providing a high molecular weight cellulose ether; b) contacting it with acid to partially depolymerize it to a cellulose ether of a viscosity of about 100 cP or less; c) neutralizing the acid; d) repeating steps a)-c) to produce two or more discrete product batches of low molecular weight cellulose ether and produce at least one discrete product batch which is partially neutralized; and e) blending the two or more discrete product batches to form a combined product batch of low molecular weight cellulose ether of a pH of 4 to 6.8. The process provides a cellulose ether with reduced yellowing and discoloration.
