Disclosed is a method and an apparatus for multiplexing and transmitting/receiving an ACK/NACK resulting from use of a HARQ scheme in an OFDMA system. Frequency and code multiplexing methods are combined with regard to the ACK/NACK to reduce signaling overhead. Frequency multiplexing is conducted by using the MCS level adopted by scheduling channels to improve the ACK/NACK transmitting performance, and code multiplexing is conducted to allocate ACK/NACK resources by using the index of the scheduling channels.

An apparatus and method for transmitting and receiving data in an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) system using a plurality of resource blocks are provided, in which a transmitter generates a sub-packet to perform a Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest (HARQ) function on the data, performs interleaving on the generated sub-packet for each resource block for a receiver according to predetermined order, and transmits a control message including the sub-packet for each resource block and allocation information of the sub-packet to mobile stations. A mobile station deinterleaves the sub-packet received from the base station for each resource block, and combines the deinterleaved sub-packet based on the control message.

A user equipment stores packet data having a priority corresponding to a plurality of priority queues having inherent priorities and relating to at least one service, and transmits buffer status information containing queue identifiers of the priority queues and buffer payload information representing an amount of the packet data stored in the priority queues. Herein, the user equipment inserts the buffer status information into a header part of a protocol data unit for the uplink packet data service, inserts the packet data into a payload part of the protocol data unit, and then transmits the protocol data unit.

Provided is a method and an apparatus for transmitting a large quantity of control information in a mobile communication system. When there is no uplink data to be transmitted, a UE spreads second control information, a quantity of which is less than or equal to a pre-defined threshold, by using a ZC sequence cyclic-shifted according to resource blocks, each of which indicates at least one time interval used for a transmission of the second control information. When there is uplink data to be transmitted, the UE performs TDM of the uplink data with third control information. When there is no uplink data to be transmitted and the quantity of control information exceeds a pre-defined threshold, or when the first control information includes various types of information, the UE spreads the first control information in a time domain by the orthogonal codes.
