摘要： The present invention provides an image capturing apparatus capable of properly zooming in on a main subject without performing complicated framing. A digital camera having an electronic zoom function has an external passive type distance detector for obtaining two-dimensional distance detection information. The two-dimensional distance detection information obtained by the distance detector is used for an auto-focus control of the digital camera. Further, the two-dimensional distance detection information is also used for detection of a main subject in an image capturing area. The digital camera specifies the position of the main subject by using the two-dimensional distance detection information and moves the center of the partial area to be extracted in the case of generating a pseudo zoom image toward the specified position.

摘要： An organic semiconductor diode comprises a hole transport layer which is arranged on an anode side and formed of an organic compound having a hole transport capability, and an electron transport layer which is arranged on a cathode side and formed of an organic compound having an electron transport capability. The hole transport layer and the electron transport layer are laminated one upon another. The cathode has a work function close to or smaller than the electron affinity of the electron transport layer, while the anode has a work function larger than that of the cathode. The organic semiconductor diode exhibits nonlinear current-voltage characteristics when a voltage is applied between the hole transport layer and the electron transport layer in contact with each other.

摘要： A camera has a distance-measuring device, which has an area sensor for sensing the light from an object to convert it into an electrical signal, a posture detector for detecting the posture of the camera, a setter for setting the positions and sizes of a plurality of calculation regions demarcated on the light-sensing surface of the area sensor in accordance with an output from the posture detector, and a calculator for calculating the distance to the object based on an output from the area sensor that corresponds to the calculation regions set by the setter. The setter can be so controlled as to set the sizes of the calculation regions for distance calculation according to the size of the object that is likely to be detected in those calculation regions. This reduces possibility of low contrast and foreground/background interference, and thereby enhances distance measurement accuracy.
