Abstract:
A wound dressing for wounds having a significant amount of exudate comprising a conformable, moisture vapor-permeable, liquid water-impermeable first layer containing at least one hole therein through which exudate can pass, and an imperforate, conformable, liquid water-permeable, moisture vapor-permeable second layer attached to the first layer and overlaying the hole or holes in the first layer and forming a reservoir into which the wound exudate can pass and from which the exudate can evaporate.
Abstract:
There is provided a tamper evident container seal comprising a normally transparent polymer film which can be rendered translucent by stretching and transparent by relaxing. There is also provided a polymer film useful as a seal of the same type of film which bears an image which is not readily visible when the film is relaxed, but becomes readily visible when the film is stretched.
Abstract:
Acidic cyclic perfluoroaliphaticdisulfonimides, salts thereof, a process for making the same, curable compositions containing acidic cyclic perfluoroaliphaticdisulfonimides or salts thereof and cationically-sensitive monomers, and a process for using acidic cyclic perfluoroaliphaticdisulfonimides and salts thereof as catalysts for the cure of cationically-sensitive monomers.
Abstract:
Water-dispersible pressure-sensitive adhesive useful for splicing carbonless paper without deactivating its color-generating system. Certain acrylate:acrylic acid copolymers are blended with acidic rosin or rosin derivative, partially neutralized with KOH in combination with NaOH and/or LiOH, and plasticized with an oily water-soluble polyoxyethylene compound. Repulpable splicing tapes can be made with the adhesive.
Abstract:
A filamentary structure comprises a spiral thermoplastic core filament disposed within a thermoplastic sheath component, consisting either of a tube or of at least three thermoplastic filaments, the sheath component being joined to the successive turns of the spiral core filament. The spiral core filament and the sheath component may comprise the same or different thermoplastic polymers, suitable polymers being polyamides, polyesters and polyolefins. The core filament and the sheath component may be extruded together from a spinning jet, and a plurality of the filamentary structures may be extruded side-by-side so that their sheath components are joined together to form a fabric structure.
Abstract:
A cartridge including a cylindrical hub fixed on a housing, which hub has a central opening and a slot extending axially across the full width of the hub and communicating with the central opening, and an endless length of magnetic tape having a major portion wrapped about the hub to form a coil and a minor portion extending from the innermost wrap of the coil, through the slot and around the side surface of the coil to the outermost wrap of the coil. Means on the housing define a tape path for the minor tape portion at the access openings which afford engagement of the tape by the heads and drive mechanism of a playback machine, and a spring biased moveable guide pin guides the minor tape portion between the access openings and the outermost wrap of the coil, and provides a low tension in the outermost wrap of the coil which in turn produces a relatively high generally unifrom tension in the tape crossing the tape heads to hold it in engagement therewith without the use of pressure pads.
Abstract:
A drum-type transceiver facsimile machine having a plurality of light-to-electric transducers and a plurality of printing styli moved axially of the drum for scan/print operation. Shift register means and a buffer memory controlled by a programmed microprocessor provide for multiplexing of signals from the transducers having a scan operation and demultiplexing of signals during the print mode with use of a buffer memory permitting compression of the multiplexed signals and decompression of received signals prior to demultiplexing.
Abstract:
A head positioning mechanism for a multitrack data cartridge recorder including a stepper motor, lead screw and screw follower assembly for incrementally moving a record/playback head transverse to the path of a magnetic recording tape to enable accurate positioning of the head at any given track across the tape.
Abstract:
An adhesive tape construction is removable from one or more objects to which it is adhered and which is reusably separable within its construction so that an object can be separated from another and subsequently reconnected with one another. The adhesive tape construction can be used to bond the other opposed surfaces of objects, including rigid objects such as a picture frame to a wall, where no portion of the adhesive tape construction projects from between the objects, and which subsequently affords easy separation of the objects without damage to either of them. More specifically, the adhesive tape construction includes a stretch release adhesive tape structure combined with a reusable connector surface.
Abstract:
A device for delivering a heparinic anticoagulant across a mucosal surface in order to achieve or maintain a therapeutically effective blood level of the heparinic anticoagulant. The device involves a matrix containing a therapeutically effective amount of a heparinic anticoagulant, and a mucoadhesive or other mechanism for maintaining the matrix in contact with the mucosal surface for a time sufficient to allow release of the heparinic anticoagulant to the mucosal surface.
