摘要: A device is provided for use in a centrifuge to separate or isolate material (such as pelleted cells, particulates, aggregates, compounds, blood components, and the like) from the liquid in which they are suspended while limiting or preventing loss of any of the resulting separated or pelleted material during further manipulations. The device can be inserted into a standard centrifugation bucket in a centrifuge and holds a flexible centrifuge bag. The device includes at least one damp assembly, which includes a partition that is maintained in an open position during centrifugation and in a closed position at unit gravity, thus isolating separated or pelleted material at the bottom of the flexible bag in the device after centrifugation and preventing the isolated material from being disturbed during liquid changes and other manipulations. The invention also encompasses a method for isolating material in a centrifuge bag following centrifugation utilizing the flexible bag-holding device described herein, as well as a flexible bag to be used with the device.

摘要: An adapter for use in a fixed angle centrifuge rotor has, in use, a radially inboard and a radially inboard portion. An opening is formed in the radially inboard portion of the adapter. The opening is sized so that substantially no part of the inboard portion of the adapter is exposed during centrifugation to a load that exceeds the ability of the material of the adapter to support itself. The material of the inboard portion of the adapter surrounding the opening has sufficient strength to support itself while under centrifugation. The adapter is fabricated from a light transmissive material. A plug that is slidably disposed and selectably positionable within the opening in the inboard segment of the adapter. The inside surface of the plug having a sealing material thereon that is biased into contact with a tube carried within the adapter.

摘要: A centrifuge tube adapter for supporting a closed tube in a cavity of a vertical angle centrifuge rotor includes an inboard and an outboard adapter segment. A hinge connects the segments and supports relative pivotal movement of one segment with respect to the other. The hinge comprises a pair of axles formed at the lower end of one segment and a pair of trunnions formed at a corresponding location on the other segment. The inboard segment has a flange and the outboard segment has a channel therein sized to receive the flange. The flange has serrations thereon.

摘要: An adapter preferably of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene is provided for use with a conical centrifuge tube in an ultracentrifuge swinging bucket rotor hole and is designed to allow the easy removal of the adapter and tube after centrifugation. At the top of the adapter is an integral annular rim with an outside diameter equal to that of a cylindrical upper portion of the centrifuge tube and with a minimal clearance to the diameter of the rotor hole. Immediately below the annular rim and adapter diameter reduces to a lesser diameter and continues until intersection with a hemispherical bottom region. The internal configuration of the adapter has a tapered conical section ending in a reduced diameter hemisphere, the internal taper and hemisphere of the adapter exactly matching the exterior of supported conical portion and hemispherical termination end of the sample tube.

摘要: A centrifuge adapter is formed in two sections divided by a plane that preferably extends through the longitudinal axis of the adapter. The two sections may be substantially identical in a first embodiment, each including a generally semicylindrical portion having a trough therein and further including an end portion. In a second embodiment, the adapter may comprise a first section including the entire bottom end portion for supporting the bottom of a centrifuge tube. The second section is formed generally as a semicylinder. When the first and second portions are assembled in facing relationship the troughs form a cavity for receiving a centrifuge tube therein. The sections of the adapter may be separate pieces, or they may hingedly connected along a pair of adajcent edges. The sections may be connected by projections extending from one section into corresponding cavities in the other section. The sections are easily separated after the sample has been centrifuged to remove the centrifuge sample tube from the adapter.
