    摘要: Apparatus and Process for delivering molten steel to a continuous casting mold with high inclusion removal capability and high mold pool flow optimization potential includes a tundish with a novel design and a metal distributor comprising a main chamber body connected to a vacuum device and tubes for metal exchange between the tundish, the distributor and the casting mold. At least one of the tubes has gas injection devices to perform gas lifting functions. The new design of the tundish enables it to receive all the steel in a ladle without leaving any heel and refining the steel to an extremely low inclusion level. The distributor is able to achieve an effective hydrostatic head relative to the mold metal level of the order of 10−2 m or below in the submerged entry nozzle and obtain fully filled and stable flow with low disturbance inside the SEN and therefore is able to deliver the molten steel at low velocities at SEN exits with minimum turbulent disturbance and high flow, thermal and chemical homogeneity over the entire metal bath in the mold. The invention also makes it possible to leave no heels in either the tundish or the distributor when they are replaced. The invention is particularly useful for thin slab and strip casting processes where mold flow control is critical to the casting process.

    摘要: A casting system and method. The casting system can include an energy source and a hearth, which can have a tapered cavity. The tapered cavity can have a first end portion and a second end portion, and the tapered cavity can narrow between the first and second end portions. Further, the tapered cavity can have an inlet at the first end portion that defines an inlet capacity, and one or more outlets at the second end portion that define an outlet capacity. Where the cavity has a single outlet, the outlet capacity can be less than the inlet capacity. Where the cavity has multiple outlets, the combined outlet capacity can match the inlet capacity. Further, the cross-sectional area of the tapered cavity near the inlet can be similar to the cross-sectional area of the inlet.

The intermediate visual wear indicator is made of a third refractory material that differs in visual appearance from the first and second refractory materials between 800 and 1500 degrees C.

This shell mold includes a central cylinder, a plurality of molding cavities arranged in an assembly around the central cylinder, and at least one heat shield that is substantially perpendicular to the main axis. The central cylinder extends along a main axis between a casting cup and a base. Each molding cavity is connected to the casting cup by at least one feed channel, and also, by a baffle-selector with a starter in the base. The at least one heat shield completely surrounds each molding cavity in a plane that is substantially perpendicular to the main axis.

    摘要: A conveying device for molten metal in an injection die casting unit, has a storage container for the molten metal and a conveying duct delivering the molten metal to a mold cavity. The conveying duct includes a cylinder bore with a piston disposed in an axially adjustable manner. A collection chamber, from which the molten metal is introduced through an onward line into the mold cavity upon axial displacement of the piston, is provided for the molten metal. An annular space, which is connected via at least one filling bore to the collection chamber, is formed between the outer wall of the piston and the inner wall of the cylinder bore. The filling bore, on an end which opens into the collection chamber, is closable by means of a valve body which is connected to an adjustable valve rod which is displaceably disposed in an axial bore of the piston.
