Abstract:
In a non-round container forming machine having a device for receiving and delivering flat container wall blanks to a wrapping station, at which the blanks are wrapped around a non-round mandrel. The non-round mandrel has a front end facing the blank. The blank is aligned substantially tangential to the mandrel when delivered to the wrapping station. A wing slide assembly, within the wrapping station, moves linearly along opposite sides of the mandrel in a wrapping direction substantially perpendicular to the blank to fold the blank along opposite sides of the mandrel. A forward wing clamp assembly, within the wrapping station, is mounted proximate a rear end of the mandrel to move pivotally to engage and direct outermost portions of opposite ends of the blank in an overlapping relation against the mandrel to form a side seam. The containers are removed from the mandrel with an extractor plate which physically engages the containers upper edge.
Abstract:
An apparatus with pivoting blades and closable surfaces for forming a sheet of material into a flower pot or flower pot cover having fins. In an embodiment for forming outwardly extending fins, the apparatus includes a male mold and a plurality of plates arranged in pairs to define a forming opening. The male mold has a plurality of fingers which are laterally extendable from the outer periphery of the male mold. A pneumatic or hydraulic piston and cylinder is provided to move the male mold between a storage position spaced from the forming opening and a forming position within the forming opening. Each pair of plates is movable between an open position and a closed position. In operation, the fingers are extended to push folded portions of a sheet of material between the pairs of plates, which are closed to press the folded portions into fins. In an alternate embodiment for forming outwardly extending fins, pairs of movable plates are positioned between stationary segments. The plates move away from one another to press folded portions of a sheet of material against the adjoining stationary segments to form fins. In another embodiment, a female mold having closable female segments cooperates with blades which are pivotable between the female segments to produce outwardly extending fins. In an apparatus for forming inwardly extending fins, blades are pivoted to push folded portions of a sheet of material between segments of a male mold.
Abstract:
A cover for use with a flower pot having a floral grouping disposed therein. The cover includes a sheet of material having a sheet extension connected to an outer peripheral surface thereof. The sheet of material is formed into a pot cover for covering the flower pot and the sheet extension extends over the floral grouping.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for covering portions of an object having an outer peripheral surface with a sheet of material having an upper surface and a lower surface with a pressure sensitive adhesive on at least a portion of the lower surface by wrapping the sheet of material about portions of the outer peripheral surface and positioning the sheet of material so that the pressure sensitive coating either contacts portions of the outer peripheral surface of the object and is bonded thereto or contacts overlapping portions of the sheet of material and is bonded to other adjacent portions of the sheet of material having the pressure sensitive coating thereon or overlapping portions of the sheet of material are bonded by the pressure sensitive adhesive.
Abstract:
A biodegradable display carton wherein a one-piece paper blank is cut, scored, and folded to form a container portion for displaying a product. The container portion has an outwardly extending flange portion extending around the upper peripheral edge of the container portion and an integral cover is hingedly connected to an edge of the peripheral flange, so that to close and seal the container, the cover is folded over and adhesively secured to the peripheral flange. An open window area is provided in the cover and a retainer extends across the window to hold the product in the container.
Abstract:
A method of forming a sheet of material into a flower pot or flower pot cover comprising means for engaging portions of the sheet of material and forming pleats in predetermined portions of the sheet of material having a predetermined shape whereby the formed flower pot or flower pot cover has pleats in predetermined portions and of predetermined shapes.
Abstract:
An article forming system for forming at least one sheet of material into an article, such as a decorative flower pot cover for example, and a novel article formed utilizing such a system. The article forming system includes a male die, a female die and a platform having a support surface and an opening extending through the support surface. The female die is disposed generally within the opening in the platform with the upper end of the female die being disposed near the support surface. The article forming system includes means for slidingly holding portions of the sheet of material generally against portions of the support surface while permitting such held portions to slide on the support surface during the forming of the article for cooperating in forming a decorative border on the decorative flower pot cover type of article which flares generally away from the flower pot object when the decorative flower pot cover article is applied to the flower pot. The article formed in accordance with the present invention includes overlapping folds formed by overlapping portions of the sheet of material to bring portions of the sheet of material into bondable contact, the overlapping folds providing the mechanical strength necessary for the formed sheet of material to hold a predetermined shape.
Abstract:
A flower pot or flower pot cover having a base with an upper end and a lower end, an object opening extending through the upper end of the base. A skirt is connected to the upper end of the base and extends outwardly from the upper end of the base terminating with an outer peripheral surface. The skirt has a plurality of overlapping folds in the skirt extending from the upper end of the base outwardly toward the outer peripheral surface of the skirt. The skirt is divided into a plurality of segments, each segment extending from the upper end of the base radially outwardly to the outer peripheral surface of the skirt. The overlapping folds in some of the segments are connected forming connected segments and the overlapping folds in the remaining segments are unconnected forming unconnected segments.
