Abstract:
A wheel having a tire receiving ring and a fiber reinforced plastic rim. The ring has a ring outer annular surface, and a ring inner annular surface, wherein the ring inner annular surface defines a material opening. The fiber reinforced plastic rim has a rim outer annular surface. The ring inner annular surface and rim outer annular surface are abutted together.
Abstract:
A rim and a method of producing a rim for bicycles and the like includes a rim body and a rim base provided thereon and lateral rim flanks provided with rim flanges. The rim flanges include a fibrous composite material having at least one fiber layer. The rim flanges include inwardly overhanging bulges of squashed fiber layers between which a tire can be accommodated at the rim body.
Abstract:
A hollow-cylindrical portion (26) inserted in a hollow-cylindrical portion (16) of one rim section (12) is provided on the other rim section (13). To form a split rim (11), part (head portion) of the inner hollow-cylindrical portion (26) overlaid on the outer hollow-cylindrical portion (16) is radially outwardly expanded by being elastically deformed by a tapered surface (39) of a piston (38) such that the inner and outer hollow-cylindrical portions (16, 26) are in close contact with each other. As a result, relative positions of the rim sections (12, 13) are strictly defined, and this enables high assembling accuracy, particularly coaxiality with a high level, to be achieved. A fine fitted to the split rim (11) can be inspected with high accuracy.
Abstract:
A bicycle wheel rim and a method of making a bicycle wheel rim are provided. The rim provided is made of a single part using structural fiber based material, preferably carbon fiber material, with two circumferential flanges for anchoring the tire, which extend radially outwards from the two sides of the outer peripheral wall of the rim.
Abstract:
A bicycle wheel rim for assembly with a plurality of spokes includes a wheel rim body having two opposite annular sidewalls, an annular intermediate wall connected between the sidewalls, and an annular rib connected between the sidewalls opposite to the intermediate wall. The intermediate wall is formed with a plurality of angularly spaced-apart spoke holes, each of which is adapted to retain a corresponding one of the spokes. Each sidewall is formed with a plurality of angularly spaced-apart cutout portions. Access to an interior space confined by the sidewalls, the intermediate wall and the rib is permitted through the cutout portions for attachment of the spokes to the spoke holes, respectively.
Abstract:
A fiber resin plastic (FRP) based bicycle rim includes an FRP body and a metal tire receiving ring. The FRP body has first and second side surfaces, an annular outer edge surface, and an annular inner edge surface. The annular inner edge surface includes at least two spoke receiving ports for receiving and supportively coupling at least two spokes to the FRP body. The metal tire receiving ring is coupled to the FRP body and is disposed radially outwardly of the FRP body. The tire receiving ring includes first and second, generally parallel continuous braking surfaces.
Abstract:
A cutting blade, for vines and the like, adaptable for use on a standard gauge or press wheel typically mounted on a shovel cultivator used in agricultural purposes. The cutting blade is readily secured for use on the gauge wheel, upon removal of the regular tire. In another invention embodiment, a specialized structure mounts the cutting blade. In any event, effective operation is provided to prevent binding during the cultivating operation.
Abstract:
Apparatus for the manufacture of a rim for the wheel of a commercial load carrying or passenger service vehicle, which apparatus comprises in combination bending apparatus for bending steel strip and butt welding the edges thereof to form a cylindrical component and a plurality of press tools for converting the component into a rim wherein at least one of the press tools comprises an annular die having located within the opening thereof pressure plate adapted to ascend or descend within such opening and on which a cylindrical component to be formed into the rim is adapted to be located above the bottom of the annular die, and pressure elements mounted above the die and adapted to engage therewith through its opening in such a way as to subject the component to compressive load against the inner surface of the die whereby the contour of the die or of the die and the pressure elements is imparted to the component, wherein the pressure elements comprises a combination of upper and lower punch tools resiliently inter-connected and so formed that when the combination descends, only the lower punch tool moves in advance of the upper punch tool to provide lateral support to the component and thus prevent its buckling under the substantially vertical pressure to which it is subjected by the upper punch tool.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a solid wheel rim having a wheel rim flange at one end of a wheel rim base and a spring-ring groove at an opposite end of the base, from a rolled and longitudinally welded sheet-metal ring of a predetermined inner diameter having a reduced wall thickness over at least a part of its length, includes the expansion of a portion of the ring to produce an annular groove zone having an inner diameter equal to the predetermined inner diameter, an enlarged zone having an inner diameter greater than such predetermined diameter, and a tapered zone located between the annular groove and enlarged zones, the wall thickness of the ring being reduced during a pressing operation, and the spring-ring groove as well as the wheel rim flange being formed during a rolling operation.
Abstract:
An improved automobile wheel with wire spokes and a novel method for making a spoked wheel. A metal spoked automotive wheel for tubeless tires having an outer circular rim with drop center adapted for receiving a tire is attached to a tubular hub assembly having means for receiving wire spokes. Wire spokes extend radially outward from the hub with terminal threads adapted for mounting a felly with threaded spoke nipples. The improved wheel center includes a narrow concentric inner felly of solid cross-section with holes for receiving the spoke nipples and peripheral portions for engaging the tire rim drop center. The felly has spaced-apart radial nipple-receiving holes and is integrally joined to the drop center of the rim at the flange.
