According to the present invention, provided is an industrially advantageous process for producing an epoxidized polymer, with safety and efficiency, wherein the epoxidation of a polymer having an olefinic carbon-carbon double bond is effected under the presence of substantially no alkali metal ion by adding an aqueous solution containing (i) ammonium tungstate and/or tungstophosphoric acid and (ii) phosphoric acid, in which the amount of (ii) phosphoric acid is not less than 0.25 moles relative to 1 gram atom of tungsten atom contained in the (i) ammonium tungstate and/or tungstophosphoric acid, and an aqueous hydrogen peroxide, separately to a solution of said polymer and a quaternary ammonium salt in an organic solvent immiscible with water.

There is a need for colorers which are utilized in automotive interiors which offer good color stability as well as a high level of Neat and ultraviolet light resistance. It is particularly critical for polymers which are utilized in making skin compounds for automotive instrument and door panels to have excellent color stability as well as excellent heat and ultraviolet light resistance. This invention discloses a rubbery polymer which can be blended with polyvinyl chloride to make leathery compositions having good color stability, heat resistance and ultraviolet light resistance, said rubbery polymer being comprised of repeat units which are derived from (a) butyl acryylate, or optionally a mixture of butyl acrylate and 2-ethylhexyl acrylate containing up to about 40 percent 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, (b) at least one member selected from the group consisting of methyl methacrylate, ethyl methacrylate, methyl acrylate and ethyl acrylate, (c) acrylonitrile, (d) styrene, (e) a conjugated diene monomer and (f) a crosslinking agent; wherein the repeat units which are derived from the conjugated diene monomer are epoxidized. Such leathery compositions offer an excellent combination of properties for utilization in making skin compounds for panels used in automotive applications.
摘要:
A rubber composition made of a diene rubber having such excellent properties as heat resistance and mechanical strength and organopolysiloxane or fluoropolymer as a lubricating substance. The lubricating substance may contain isocyanate or cyanate groups, which will react with the hydroxy groups which exist on the surface of a filler usually applied to the diene rubber, thus securely keeping the lubricating substance in the molecular structure of the composition. A liquid diene polymer containing hydroxy groups and having a good compatibility with the diene rubber may be further added to the composition so that its hydroxy groups will react with the isocyanate or cyanate groups in the lubricating substance. The liquid diene polymer may contain epoxy groups instead of hydroxy groups, whereas the lubricating substance containing such functional groups as amino, carboxyl, hydroxy or mercapto groups so that the exoxy groups in the former and the functional groups in the latter will react with each other. The composition may further contain an isocyanate compound containing isocyanate groups, with the liquid diene polymer containing hydroxy groups. In this arrangement, the hydroxy groups in the liquid diene polymer will be replaced with the isocyanate groups, which in turn will react with the functional groups in the lubricating substance.

The present invention relates to an elastomeric composition comprising a blend of from about 25 to about 75 percent by weight of polychloroprene and from about 75 to about 25 percent by weight of epoxidized natural rubber having a level of epoxide modification in the range of from about 15 to 85 mole percent. These blends may be incorporated along with conventional sulfur-vulcanized elastomers to provide new and improved compounded rubbers particularly suited for use in tire tread applications.
