    摘要: Restriction of flow along a shaft by interposing a split ring in the annulus between the shaft and housing. When the ends of the split ring are separated, the effective diameter of the ring is increased and a clearance between the ID of the split ring and the shaft is maintained permitting flow. When the ends are released and allowed to come together the split ring closes the annular gap and restricts the flow. Also contemplated is the restriction of flow along a shaft by interposing an axially movable sleeve in the annulus between the shaft and housing. Flow through the annulus between the movable sleeve and the shaft is resisted by the clearance or features such as labyrinths, to thereby create a differential pressure from one end of the sleeve to the other.

    摘要: A sump draining apparatus having a pressure transducer engaged in a receptacle that is in turn engaged in an open-ended collar of a housing. The receptacle and thus the pressure transducer is slideable in the axial direction into and out of the open-ended collar. The housing is generally cylindrical and contains a pump and motor, each of which has a generally cylindrical shape and is axially stacked in the housing. A cord having a vent and electrical leads for the pressure transducer is releasably engaged via a cord restraint at one end portion of the housing and the pressure transducer is releasably engaged in the receptacle in the open-ended collar at the other end of the housing. The receptacle and sensor may be removed, serviced, and/or replaced without the housing being opened and without the pump and motor being removed.

The temperature transmitting collar is mounted on the pump line shaft immediately adjacent to the stretch bearing, which is the top bearing in the pump system. The infrared sensor is positioned within sensing distance of the temperature transmitting collar and control circuitry is provided to warn of abnormal temperatures and to turn the pump off if temperatures continue to rise to an alarm condition.

    摘要: Disclosed is a device and method to increase density of slurry transported by slurry pumping systems. A connection is made to the existing slurry pipeline so that a portion of slurry is drawn into the device. Multiple settling chambers are filled and pressurized by the slurry. Settling in these chambers segregates the processed slurry into a high density stream and a low density stream. The low density stream is returned to the slurry make up area. The high density stream is returned to mix with the unprocessed slurry remaining in the existing slurry pipeline. A computer processor controls the amount of low density slurry withdrawn so that the final slurry density and slurry velocity meet set point values.

    摘要: A method and an apparatus for dividing the flow of fiber suspensions of the pulp and paper industry in which the fiber suspension is caused to flow into a space uniting the inlet and the outlet flows and in which space a vortex flow is created to prevent the suspension from forming a strong fiber network and from causing blockage of the system. The pressure of the suspension further is increased so that the suspension flowing into the apparatus need not be pressurized. The apparatus includes a vortex chamber provided with one inlet and several outlets, at least one of the outlets is preferably provided with a device for regulating the flow through the outlet. The apparatus further includes a rotor for moving the suspension through the several outlets towards further processing devices.
