Abstract:
A method for the reinforcement of a pipeline in communicating with a marine platform, the pipeline extending from below a waterline to above the waterline, includes arranging a casing about the pipeline at a location above the waterline, the casing being dimensioned such that a space is defined between an inner surface of the casing and an outer periphery of the pipeline. A cap assembly is positioned at an upper end of the casing, and the casing is shifted to a predetermined position along the pipeline. The space is evacuated via the introduction of a pressurized gas and a resin is injected to fill the space, the resin being injected at a pressure that causes the casing to expand and be become pretensioned about the resin and pipeline.
Abstract:
Provided is an oil leakage repairing material, wherein the oil leakage repairing material is a curable composition, oil absorption of the oil leakage repairing material before curing is 100% or greater, and oil absorption of the oil leakage repairing material after curing is 50% or less.
Abstract:
A method for sealing a liquid leak in a pipe. The method may include wrapping a circumference of the pipe with a gasket material at a location of the leak to create an annular cavity between the gasket material and the pipe. The method may also include allowing the leaking liquid to exit from the annular cavity. The method may further include securing the gasket material to the pipe. The method may also include injecting an expandable grout into the annular cavity between the pipe and the gasket material. The method may further include allowing the grout to expand upon contact with the leaking liquid to create a seal around the leak. The method may also include adhering a reinforcement material to the gasket material and the pipe to reinforce the gasket material and the pipe at the location of the leak.
Abstract:
A scraper launcher includes a body having a rim and a trap door having a first surface and a second surface, where an interfacing portion of the second surface interfaces with an interfacing surface of the rim when the trap door is closed against the rim. A seal is provided between the interfacing portion of the trap door and the interfacing surface of the rim. The scraper launcher also includes a sealant injection system with sealant passages formed through the scraper launcher, fluidly communicating an exterior of the scraper launcher to an interior of the scraper launcher, and an injection fitting in communication with the sealant passages.
Abstract:
A clamp for repair of a pipe coupling, includes a clamp unit including a side wall with an inner surface, the inner surface having a curvature dimensioned to match an outer curvature of a pipe coupling to be repaired. A coupling on the clamp unit is constructed and arranged to couple a first portion of the clamp unit with a second portion of the clamp unit. The coupling, when secured, operates to induce a radially inward force on the inner surface of the clamp unit. A window is formed as an opening in the side wall of the clamp unit. The window is dimensioned to expose a flange of a pipe coupling to be repaired.
Abstract:
A device for repairing pipelines comprises a sleeve adhered to a pipeline, said sleeve being made of a cured composite material in the form of a truncated cone with a cylindrical passage passing along an axis, the diameter of the passage being equal to the outer diameter of the pipeline being repaired, and a side wall, the inner surface of the side wall corresponding to the outer surface of the sleeve, wherein the side wall is made of a cured composite material. The invention provides improvement of performance reliability of the repaired pipeline.
Abstract:
A fabric device for application on a degraded area of a member for rehabilitating the member. A fabric device in accordance with the present invention comprises at least one layer of composite fabric, which has a first surface and a second surface spaced-apart from the first surface, nanomaterial on at least one surface of the fabric, and a resin matrix on the fabric over the nanomaterial. The resin matrix may also comprise nanomaterial therein.
Abstract:
A subsea drying system (10) for drying a chamber (12) underwater has an upstream piping (24, 26, 28) for conveying a pressurized drying fluid from a source (18) to the chamber (12); and downstream piping (36, 38, 40) for expelling liquid displaced from the chamber (12) by the drying fluid in an open-loop dewatering mode. In a closed-loop dehumidifying mode, a recirculation path (54) between the downstream piping (36, 38, 40) and the upstream piping (24, 26, 28) conveys drying fluid exiting the chamber (12) back into the chamber (12) after passing through a dehumidifier (58). A valve system selectively closes and opens the re-circulation path to expel displaced liquid when that path is closed and to recirculate drying fluid from the chamber (12) through the dehumidifier (58) to the upstream piping (24, 26, 28) when that path is open.
Abstract:
A method and system for repairing a leak in a utility pipeline. The system includes a mold that is attached to the utility pipeline in proximity to a leak. The method further includes injecting an adhesive and/or a sealant into the mold and allowing the adhesive or sealant to cure to form a cast sealing the leak in the utility pipeline.
Abstract:
A polymer composite grouting method for blocking leaking and sand inrush of underground pipeline includes steps of: (1) determining a leaking and sand inrush position of an underground pipeline; (2) drilling a plurality of grouting holes in a ground surface; (3) placing two grouting pipes into each of the grouting holes, binding a film bag at a bottom of one of the grouting pipes; (4) injecting a polymer grouting material via one of the grouting pipes to form a polymer sand stabilizing body; (5) extruding water to accumulated in the pipeline; (6) installing a plurality of geotextile bags at the pipeline section displacement; (7) injecting the polymer material into the geotextile bags for blocking the leakage; and (8) filling the pumping area out of the pipeline. The present invention provides a practical technical measure to treat the leaking and sand inrush of the underground pipeline under complicated geological condition.
