Abstract: A strengthened polyethylene tubular member, where the polyethylene tubular member has an outer surface, a circumference, a wall thickness, an area to be strengthened, and the outer surface of the polyethylene tubular member contains polyethylene. The strengthened polyethylene tubular member contains a fabric layer wrapped around the circumference of the tubular member at least two full rotations and covering the area to be strengthened. The fabric layer contains a plurality of interwoven tape elements with a base layer of a strain oriented olefin polymer disposed between covering layers of a heat fusible olefin polymer. The tape elements within the fabric layer are bonded together and the tape elements adjacent the tubular member are bonded to the tubular member.

Abstract: A method of repairing a polyolefin structure at a damaged area thereof containing applying a filler material as necessary to fill the damaged area, overlaying the filled damaged area with a transitional film having a first side adapted to bond to polyolefins, bonding the transitional film to the polyolefin structure, and applying a reinforcement system over the transitional film. The bonding of the transitional film to the polyolefin structure comprises applying heat to the transitional film.A repair system for repairing a polyolefin structure containing optionally a filler material on the polyolefin structure, a transitional film applied over and bonded to the polyolefin structure having a first side adapted to bond to polyolefins, and a reinforcement system, applied over the transitional film. The reinforcement system contains a fiber-reinforced polyurethane system bonded to the second side of the transitional film.

Abstract: A method of joining two polyolefin tubular members end-to-end containing placing respective ends of the tubular members together, welding the respective ends of the two tubular members together using butt fusion thereby defining a circumferential joint, wrapping the respective ends of the tubular members and the circumferential joint with a transitional film having a first surface adapted to bond to the tubular members, bonding the transitional film to the respective ends of the tubular members, and applying a reinforcement system over the transitional film. The bonding of the transitional film to the respective ends of the tubular members contains applying heat to the transitional film and the bonding of the transitional film to the respective ends of the tubular members contains wrapping the pipe with heat-activated shrink tape and heating the damaged area to activate a bonding process of the transitional film to the respective ends of the tubular members.

Abstract: A system for applying a web around a cylindrical object with even tension containing a core having a generally cylindrical shape and a pair of handles. Each handle has an insertion area, a collar area, and a gripping area. The collar area is sandwiched between the insertion area and the gripping area and the insertion diameter is less than the inner diameter of the core at the first end and second end. The handles and core have a means for coupling meaning that the core and the insertion area of the handles do not move independently from one another.

Abstract: A process of reinforcing a thermoplastic pipe containing locating a thermoplastic pipe containing at least one defect on the outer surface extending at least partially into the pipe wall thickness. A tie-layer film is wrapped approximately one full rotation around the circumference of the pipe and energy is applied to the film, adhering the film to the outer surface of the pipe. An uncured reinforcing material containing a textile at least partially embedded into an uncured matrix is wrapped on the outer surface of the pipe at least one full rotation about the circumference of the pipe completely overlaying the defect. A machine is attached for reinforcing a thermoplastic pipe onto the thermoplastic pipe and energy is applied to cure the uncured matrix forming a cured reinforcing material. A machine for delivering the energy is also disclosed.

Abstract: A method for strengthening a polyethylene tubular member. The polyethylene tubular member has an outer surface, a circumference, a wall thickness, and an area to be strengthened and the outer surface of the polyethylene tubular member contains polyethylene. Abstract: Disclosed are methods and systems for dispersing nanoparticles into a matrix. Disclosed is a system and method for coating a carrier film with a resin, spraying the resin with a suspended nanoparticle solution, and then transferring the resin-nanoparticle matrix to a collection vessel for dispensing for end use. Also, suspended nanoparticle solution is sprayed onto carrier film, the film is dried, a fabric layer is coated with resin layer, and nanoparticles are then transferred into the fabric resin layer to create a nanoparticle-infused fabric matrix. Fabric layers can also be coated with resin and sprayed with nanoparticles. Also disclosed is a system and method for coating a first carrier film with nanoparticles, coating a second carrier film with resin, and transferring nanoparticles from first carrier into the resin layer on the second carrier to create a nanoparticle infused resin material that can be collected and dispensed for end use.
