Abstract:
The present invention provides an adjustable clamp apparatus having curved arms which pivot/articulate relative to each other. The distance between pivot points can be adjusted via specially configured couplers having nuts and threaded rods. The curved arms can be locked together with a rod placed in a slot, and then squeezed by rotation of threaded rod. In the interior of the curved arms there can be a plurality of projections or contact points. A strap can be connected to a selected adjustable clamp (e.g., by a pair of padeyes) and used to raise and lower the clamp. When being lowered onto a pipe to be repaired, the curved arms can be open wide and when their upper portions make contact with the pipe to be repaired, this contact will tend to cause arms to close around the pipe relative to each other. Once clamped against the pipe with the clamps, the repair members can be welded together.
Abstract:
An attachment flange assembly for connection of a pipe or tube to a wall comprising a pair of annular flange plates configured to be secured together and to the wall in surrounding relation to a tube receiving hole; each flange plate includes a conical surface disposed in diverging face-to-face relation; a pair of generally semi-cylindrical bushing halves define a split bushing assembly positionable to encircle a tubular member and define a radial outward generally spherical surface. A resilient seal ring is interposed between the conical surfaces and said radial outward spherical surface. In one form, the generally semi-cylindrical bushing halves include an internal semi-cylindrical tube receiving surface with at least one radially inward ridge.
Abstract:
A repair system for repairing a polyolefin pipe containing a transitional film applied over and bonded to the pipe and a reinforcement system, applied over the transitional film. The transitional film has a first side adapted to bond to polyolefins and the reinforcement system contains a fiber-reinforced polyurethane system bonded to the second side of the transitional film.A system two polyolefin tubular members joined end-to-end containing two tubular members arranged such that their respective ends are adjacent, thereby defining a circumferential joint, a transitional film applied and bonded to the circumferential joint and at least a portion of the two tubular members, and a reinforcement system applied over the transitional film. The transitional film has a first side adapted to bond to polyolefins and the reinforcement system contains a fiber-reinforced polyurethane or a fiber-reinforced epoxy system bonded to the second side of the transitional film.
Abstract:
In some implementations, an injection system that injects sealant into a pipe, pressure component or valve while containing the pipe, pressure component or valve repair that significantly reduces or eliminates release of hazardous material from inside the pipe, pressure component valve or injection system and thus significantly reduces emission of the hazardous material from inside the pipe, pressure component or valve into the environment and protecting the repair technicians.
Abstract:
A fabric device for application on a degraded area of a member for rehabilitating the member. A fabric device in accordance with the present invention comprises at least one layer of composite fabric, which has a first surface and a second surface spaced-apart from the first surface, nanomaterial on at least one surface of the fabric, and a resin matrix on the fabric over the nanomaterial. The resin matrix may also comprise nanomaterial therein.

Abstract:
A composite system for the reinforcement of physical structures includes a plurality of unidirectional fibers arranged with respective longitudinal axes generally parallel to each other over a substantial portion of a length of each unidirectional fiber. The plurality of unidirectional fibers are non-mechanically connected. A resinous material adheres the plurality of unidirectional fibers to each other such that each one of the plurality of unidirectional fiber is adhered to at least one adjacent one of the plurality of unidirectional fibers along a substantial portion of the length of the adjacent one of the plurality unidirectional fibers.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the prevention of small leakages from transfer lines used for transferring liquids, e.g. oil, between ships, oil platforms and other structures or vessels, where the transfer lines extend over open water. In such situations, small amounts of oil can leak from e.g. a corroded joint, causing an environmental impact which may be a notifiable event. A pad may be fastened around a joint or other part of the transfer line which may be at risk of leakage or seepage, which is capable of soaking up the small volumes of liquid which are likely to be involved (a liter or so). The pad includes a sorbent zone and an outer impermeable layer which may have a transparent or translucent portion. The pad is preferably also equipped with a floatation element.
