    摘要: A scheme for management of uncertainty in control systems that require adaptation is described. The scheme removes as much uncertainty as possible at design time and manufacturing time by taking advantage of available compute resources in pre-computing a large set of robustness-performance tradeoff based model controllers at different operating conditions for different values of uncertainty parameters that occur in-use and in manufacturing. A group of control models, and corresponding model controllers with an uncertainty bound larger than the best-tuned controller, are generated. A subset of the model controllers is implemented in the system at manufacturing time based on characterization of the system. The subset of model controllers is switched at run time based on transient information received during operation of the system.

    摘要: An embedded DRAM is incorporated inside a digital-versatile-disk (DVD) playback-controller integrated circuit. Data from the DVD optical disk is written to a data block in the embedded DRAM. Error correction is performed by reading the data block to generate syndromes and over-writing errors in the data block with corrections. Once the data block is corrected, it is copied or moved to a different area of the embedded memory, a host-buffer area. As the data block is moved, de-scrambling is performed to decrypt the data. The re-ordered data is stripped of overhead such as ECC bytes and written to the host-buffer area of the embedded DRAM. A checksum is generated as the data is moved, and the checksum is compared to a stored checksum to ensure that all errors were corrected. The data block in the host-buffer area is then transferred to a host. The embedded DRAM has a very wide data-access width of 16 bytes. The full width is used for writing data from the optical disk to the ECC data block buffer, and for reading data from the host-buffer area to the host. Narrower access widths are used by the error correction and de-scrambler blocks.

    摘要: A time counting device, a cache memory and a copy control circuit are added to a conventional disk drive so that recorded information is copied periodically and automatically. Alternatively, a cache memory, a copy control circuit, a reference control circuit, a first time counting device and a second time counting device are added to the conventional disk drive so that information which remains recorded for a predetermined period of time after its last recording date is automatically copied. According to another embodiment, a reference signal is recorded in advance and a reproduced output is periodically measured. If the reproduced output is lower than a reference value, recorded information is automatically copied. According to yet another embodiment, the temperature in the disk drive is measured by a thermometer 18, and if the temperature is higher than a reference value, information is automatically copied at shorter intervals than when the temperature is less than the reference value. Other embodiments are also disclosed with the aim of ensuring that information recorded on a magnetic media can always be reproduced reliably, even in the case of high density recording.

    摘要: Tracking control apparatus and method for a digital/analog recording/playback system which is capable of recording and playing back a digital video signal as well as an analog video signal compatible with an existing VHS system. A tracking signal is recorded by first and second heads for the recording and playback of an analog video signal, and a digital video signal is recorded by third and fourth heads for the recording and playback of the digital video signal. The recorded tracking signal is played back by the first and second heads and the recorded digital video signal is played back by the third and fourth heads. The digital video signal is recorded on a portion of a tape wound at an angle of 180.degree. with respect to a head drum and the tracking signal is recorded on upper and lower 5.degree. portions adjoining the 180.degree.-wound portion of the tape. Therefore, a loss of the digital video signal can be avoided. This has the effect of obtaining a high picture quality.

    摘要: An analog reproduced output can be processed by a digital system circuit in a digital and analog data processing apparatus. An analog output reproduced from a medium on which analog signals are recorded is converted into digital signals by an (A/D) analog to digital converter of a digital recording and reproducing system.     摘要: In a digital signal reproducing apparatus various adjustment jobs and measurement jobs can be automatically executed by a simple operation by providing a clock generator, an external waveform equalizer, an error detector, an edge detection circuit, and a DC following circuit in addition to a waveform equalizer by which a reproduced analog signal waveform is processed and then converted to a digital signal. The digital signal is equalized by a digital filter and sampled and the digital signal and extracted clocks are supplied. The reproducing level and the equalizer coefficients can be automatically adjusted and an error rate can be automatically measured. A pulse width modulation or bias recording can be automatically determined and a recording current can be automatically adjusted by the system and the inclination of magnetic heads and the distance between the heads can also be automatically measured.
